In the Shadows Beyond This World: Epilogue

Well. That’s that. Thanks for reading!

This story clocked in at 129,360 words, or at least that’s how many words I wrote on it since July 2, easily making it the longest thing I’ve ever written, certainly the longest thing I’ve written in one month to this date. Although this epilogue could have been longer, but I ran out of ‘feeling like doing dialogue’ halfway through, even though the dialogue at the beginning was okay. : P Maybe I’ll go rewrite that part later.

Now to do some other projects… to list them, I have:

– 6 pianos arrangements

– A collaborative writing project with Rose, Jenna, Yllamse, and Gaby

– Drawing! Especially art for the games I’m making, and learning how to draw humans in proper perspective, and fanart of whatever I feel like (ZELDAZELDAZELDA)

– Using RPG Maker to make a Fire Emblem game

– Possibly working on my two remaining Fire Emblem 7 novels

– NOT making plans to write a story about the Hero who fought the Shadow Tribe and broke the Fused Shadow at the cost of his own life… darnit…

In the Shadows Beyond This World: Chapter 21: Triforce of Power

DONE DONE DONE-ED-Y DONE

In yo’ face, Ganondorf!

Hope you enjoyed. Still an epilogue coming up.

A side note: whenever I clicked on ‘add link’ here in the post creation screen… I giggled. I admit it.

This chapter felt… repetitive. I was so anxious to fit in all the dramatic lines that I think some points were kind of hammered in. And the Franz didn’t get the kick-butt speech that I wanted him to, because I forgot what it was about. It was something about unity, anyway.

In the Shadows Beyond This World: Chapter 19: Twilight Helm

Yeah, things are really picking up! Two more chapters to go, and an epilogue! I’ll be done by tomorrow!

Obviously, it has been spelled out that the Hero from the past is Link from LttP. He also happens to be, in this headcanon, the Link from Four Swords and Minish Cap and the Oracle games. …I haven’t played Minish Cap. But I’ve played Oracle of Ages, and I have both Oracle mangas (whooo Raven is hot whooo), and I don’t think it’s too farfetched to stitch all these together into one boy. One extra note, which I may have mentioned before… That Link married Zelda, so I totally support Zelink here, for you Zelink shippers. : )

Speaking of shipping, I have the idea that Midna and Zant are cousins, and one of the inappropriate things that he did was attempt to court her. : P

I only started using RPG Maker a week ago, and I’ve already logged 60 hours on it. o_O Of course, at least an hour or two of that was just listening to the music, but still! The next longest playtime I have on a Steam game is KotOR II with 50 hours, and that’s because KotOR II is ridiculously long. Wow.

In the Shadows Beyond This World: Chapter 14: It’s Always Spiders

Yay, another chapter! This one might be slightly shorter. I left out most of the temple. Because.

I have so many characters I can’t fit them all comfortably in the screen. Seriously. I guess that means I’m too unfocused, and I should be writing more about Link and what he’s thinking and feeling. But… Saria! and Midna! and Franz! and Navi! These people are all important! And Rana, too, I guess. Lol j/k I like her too. She’s going through a difficult spot, but she seems to be getting better. We’ll see how things end up by the final chapter. Can’t wait for it! (and continued apologies to people who anti-ship Link/OC. I don’t mind other ships, just this story happens to be a Link/OC ship.)

“And fun was had by all” is possibly the most OOC line in this whole story, but it’s also one of the ones I’ve enjoyed writing the most so far. Heh.

I gave Franz his magic whistle in character development, but now it just seems like an excuse for Link to be lazy. To which I say, lol, why not.

It is stupidly hot in here. Agh. I didn’t go anywhere all day and I am happy with this decision. I did read the Portal 2: The Final Hours thingy, and it was pretty cool. : )

In the Shadows Beyond This World: Chapter 11: Evil’s Bane In Hand

Today’s notes:

– this chapter took forever to write, not entirely sure why. (Partly why is because I was looking at Zelda pictures on DA again. For every picture I’ve already seen, there’s five more waiting to be found. XP ) It’s a bit quieter than some of the others, but it still has its badass moments. I like Link’s confidence. He’s acting more like a hero and less like a hen.

– the part with the bacon was written fairly early this morning, when I could smell one of my neighbours cooking bacon. It made me hungry. DX

– the hide-and-seek probably wasn’t necessary.

– this is an odd chapter and it didn’t really go the way I thought it would. Some plot holes. I may need to go over this part of the story with a sledgehammer or steamroller or two, just to smooth things out so they WORK. I’m not happy with this chapter at all, and I’m hoping the next one will be better. I hope it’s not because I’ve been surfing DA looking at pictures (and accidentally catching wind of other people’s headcanons and OCs and things. (Hey, aren’t you glad that one of the things I didn’t put in was Dark Link sexually harassing Link? Yeeeaaah.)). But in any case… I may rewrite this chapter again from scratch this evening. Or tomorrow. Sometime when I haven’t been driving myself crazy.

– FRANZ WHY YOUR CHARACTER NO DEVELOP come on, lad. Rewrite, perhaps. Or next chapter at the very least.

– I don’t remember why the next chapter is called what it is. Hoping I remember before I have to go and write it.

EDIT: I AM REWRITING THIS WHEN I GET BACK FROM WORK

EDIT2: I may have written in some new plot holes, but I feel like the chapter is much more interesting now, even if it’s even slower than before. Also Franz actually says things now. He reminds me of Gyoriing. And I managed to salvage most of the words I already wrote! Yay! Okay, so now tomorrow I can keep on with the story.

In the Shadows Beyond This World: Chapter 4: Faith

Another chapter for you guys! Gonna make a start on the next one.

Chapter 3: Martyr Complex

Chapter 4: Faith

Link scrambled to his feet, shaking his head to clear it. His sword was already in his hand, although he didn’t remember drawing it.

Before him stood a mighty Stalfos, with eyes glowing blue, and ancient, weathered armour hanging off its bones. The plates of the armour were covered in intricate designs, including the Triforce. Link guessed this must have been a great Knight of Hyrule. It was too bad it was dead and evil, now.

Navi, Rana, and Naeri were nowhere in sight. In fact, the two of them stood in a vast foggy plain, with rocky scrub beneath their feet.

“Link,” said a voice, and the jaws of the Stalfos moved. The voice was hardly deeper than his own, not what he expected from the tall warrior spirit that stood before him.

“Huh?” Link said stupidly. Continue reading

In the Shadows Beyond This World: Chapter 3: Martyr Complex

Another day, another chapter. Perhaps I can get another chapter done tonight! But first, some errands.

Here’s hoping Link doesn’t come across like this! Although I like the comment “Actually it depends on how you view the games, so Power and Wisdom may give bonuses right then and there, while Courage [eventually] turns you into a god-forged killing machine.”

Chapter 2: Reunions

Chapter 3: Martyr Complex

Dawn was breaking as Link checked his gear. His sword and shield were firmly belted to his back, the Ocarina and his wallet were mysteriously in a pouch at his waist, his lantern was hooked beside that, his boots were securely strapped around his legs, his chainmail wasn’t going to chafe, and his hat was on his head.

Then he saw a pair of lights bobbing through the forest, and a fast-moving shadow, and he braced himself for impact.

He wasn’t disappointed. Rana flung herself at him, laughing, and he staggered back a pace before he held her steady. “You’re back!”

“I am!” he said, matching her infectious grin. “I – you – I still can’t believe you’re alive.”

“You know, neither can I. But if the Goddesses could pull a… what was it Zelda called it? A deus ex machina on all of Hyrule, it’s not really a problem to pull it on one or two people. I’m not the only one who lived… You know that House of Skultula? The Goddesses cured them too. And I’m sure there were others. But anyway. Oh my gosh! You’re real!” She reached up to touch his face with trembling fingers.

He grinned, pulled her close, and kissed her. Continue reading

Silly kitten hurt her foot...

Silly kitten hurt her foot…

This is a picture, obviously, of Link, Rana, and Saria (sans fairies). They’re returning home to Kokiri Village from a long day of playing in the Lost Woods, where Rana hurt her foot. Again, I can’t do perspective too well, and I didn’t use a reference for Saria. So that’s why she’s not wearing her cute little green boots. Link turned out the best again, but still looks funny.

Friendship

Best Friends Forever

Best Friends Forever

Link has just beat the Forest Temple and his best friend Saria has become one of the six/seven Sages, so she has to stay there, at least for the time being. Even though Link has grown up and will never remotely be a Kokiri again, she wants him to know that they’ll always be best friends.

Saria’s too short in this picture, but other than that, it’s quite nice.
