I’m going for my sword… you’d better take cover… not that it will help…

This is the finished version of this sketch. It’s pretty good for my first full-sized CG, considering I didn’t know how to CG shiny eyes, or shiny hair (I only found that out a few months ago, didn’t I?) or how to use the blur tool. So, the highlights are painfully blatent, on the skin, but the hand looks rather good. The hair I did by drawing streaks on the brown and using the smudge tool to rub them in. I have Adobe 5.0, I think. Because I only knew about the smudge tool and not the blur tool, there are some white spots where it didn’t overlap properly, like on the back of the jaw. Then I don’t know how to draw ears still, and the tiny detail work on the swordhilt isn’t nearly as complicated as I’d like, and the clothing looks a little flat. But, all in all, it’s my first try, and it’s okay for that. I just want to say the shirt design has changed since then, and now the little stitchings are on the inside shirt which makes more sense to me.

Fire Temple

Ooooh, it's a boulder!!!

Ooooh, it’s a boulder!!!

Whoohoo! It’s the Fire Temple! I love this picture. Link looks so good. The torches work well as well. The shading is… my best shaded picture ever. I do know the shortcomings: Link has small hands, the bottom of tunic does look like a skirt, etc. But even so, the rendition of his face (what you can see of it) is very good for me, and I think I managed to get the different colours of his clothes to look different even in pencil. There’s even some dynamicism in the pose!

My brother says this is the second best picture I’ve ever drawn.

Lyon and the Shadows

Wh-what - Wh-who are you?

Wh-what – Wh-who are you?

This is a depiction of Lyon encountering the Demon King for perhaps the first time. The black tendrils of shadow are coiling around him, probably whispering strange and arcane things. Lyon’s kind of scared, but he’s doing experiments in the name of peace – it’s to cure his sick father. Unfortunately… well, bad things happen. Poor Lyon.

I actually like this picture better than the previous one, but I don’t like that way of doing hair very much.

Happy Lyon

Nice to meet you, Eirika, Ephraim.

Nice to meet you, Eirika, Ephraim.

Lyon! The Prince of Grado from Fire Emblem 8 gets some more paper time. I wanted to draw him happy because he comes across as a pretty tragic character in the game: in love with Eirika, beating himself up for being physically weak and losing to Ephraim (and Eirika) all the time, even though they’re both terrific friends and he knows it, and he appreciates it, etc. Also his father getting sick and dying doesn’t help. He’s far too sensitive to be an Emperor, but with his friends’ help, he could have made it. As a sensitive Emperor, he would have listened to his people very carefully. Instead, the Demon King ate his soul. Blah. So, this is him being happy because he doesn’t get to be often enough.

I used his game sprite for a reference for his hair again, and his clothes. His face came out a bit long.

Ceniro Sprites

Hi! I'm Ceniro

Twip! Whap! Bam!

Twip! Whap! Bam!

Aaaaah, I should have put this up long ago. Isn’t Ceniro great? I’m awful at battle sprites, but here it looks pretty good. (The movie, however, does not). Still, he looks rather cute in the talk-sprite, even if the hair is not really professional-looking. And the little sprite all on its own is a finished image. It’s just the frames of actual fighting are not.

Mage, King, and Sage

King Freddie looks old

King Freddie looks old

The cheerful one at the top is a mage, who is the son of the chief advisor of the King of Almarlia. He’s a friend of Cedric. He has Celtic pins holding his cloak up and an amulet. I like him. The one at the bottom is the King of Almarlia, Frederic. That may not be his final name, or else that may not be his final design. That’s why it says “for now”. The one on the right is Lord Shale, only very bad. His hair turned out nuts. There needs to be more of it over his forehead.

Mercenary (name unknown) and Sage

I have a big shoulder, and nobody touch it!

I have a big shoulder, and nobody touch it!

The guy at the top is a Mercenary class, but I gave him a big shoulderpad so he can upgrade to Hero-class without too many hassles. He has blue-green hair and eyes, but I still think he looks too much like Raven. He’s also got a red shirt with a blue undershirt, and the shoulder pad is brown with grey spikes (oh, how very interesting. >_<7) He might be the brother of the peg knight shown yesterday.

The guy at the bottom has, like I said, creamy crinkly hair. He’s (lord somebody) and a bit of a dandy about the hair. Since then we’ve determined that his name is Shale, which, I would say is a ‘totally awesome’ name. Lord Shale is a Sage-class. I said that, didn’t I. Huh. My brother says he looks too girly. I don’t care. I really like the pose on the left, which will be used for his ‘official art’ but the one on the right is what’s going to be used for his ‘talk-sprite’.
