Sangwine

Huhhhh...

Huhhhh…

Colby was having a fanart contest to celebrate LinT getting to 200 pages! I wanted to draw something, since I love LinT so much anyway, but first I needed to know ‘how to draw’ Sangwine etc. So here he is, and I don’t think this is from a particular picture, but Sangwine is rather easy to draw from scratch. I did refer to the comic, though. He’s got thick eyebrows! And pretty hair!

Chibi Oscar

Helllllooooooo, handsome

Helllllooooooo, handsome

It’s Oscar with his eyes open! My brother says that doesn’t count as chibi, but I say he’s cuter than usual, so I get to call him chibi. I personally don’t think he’s “squinty-eyed” – I think his eyes are just permanently in the ‘happy’ Japanese sign, though so ambiguously that it doesn’t look strange when his mouth turns serious and he talks about serious stuff. Hey, Oscar’s cool, and a pretty good paladin. And he cooks, yet he isn’t a nutcase like Lowen. (ha ha ha ha) His ear is also slightly detailed. Nice eyes, though.

Janaff snores

Lucia: You'd never think he's over 100 except that he snores. Janaff: Hey!

Lucia: You’d never think he’s over 100 except that he snores. Janaff: Hey!

The sort of back story behind this picture is that Janaff and Lucia are hiding in a large shallow cave on the side of a cliff, and she has a nightmare so he holds her, and falls asleep in a rather uncomfortable position. Well, she’s comfortable, at least. And that’s about it. I like the pose. I couldn’t let myself erase the bit of Janaff’s belt that’s hidden by her arm, so it looks a little funny. Ugh. They’re sweet together.

Pit and Link

So I’m so far behind that I decided may as well just put it up. Um, let’s see. I guess the new Super Smash Bros. Brawl site had just gone up, and I decided to draw Pit because he looked really cool. He’s Greek! Huzzah! Except he didn’t come out nearly right, and then I tried TP Link, but he didn’t work either. Too bad this is only Pit’s second incarnation – it’s really cool, but he’s so old – the first games came out in 8-bit or whatever! It’s a bit painful. Oh, well. He’s getting some recognition now. And I understand the first game is insanely hard (as most early games are) due to not-quite-perfect game mechanics, etc.

Oscar

The cheerful, yet responsible knight

The cheerful, yet responsible knight

I like Oscar, the green social knight from Fire Emblem 9. And I don’t really like his official art; in the artwork, the ‘caveliers all’ wallpaper, and his sprite, he looks different in all of them. So I did his sprite because I like it the best. He’s got some heavy-duty looking armour. Not like some of them, where it looks three-quarters decorative.

Marth

More proof that I can occasionally draw! This is one of my brother’s favourite pictures – that I drew. It’s of the Marth Smash Trophy from Super Smash Bros. Melee. It did come out well, although the tail end of the cloak clearly has some problems with subtlety – and not just in my picture.

Frelia’s Finest

Royal and Knight... but not the usual ones

Royal and Knight… but not the usual ones

This picture is of another Fire Emblem 8 couple that is probably pretty uncanonical: Innes and Syrene. I wrote a story to go with this, too. Innes’ clothes are terrible, and Syrene’s hair. And they didn’t fit together quite right. And Innes’ steel bow is pretty hacky, and I’m not sure what happened to his quiver. Syrene’s armour was a little better.

Tunic Study

It's a shirt.

It’s a shirt.

I expressed an interest in learning to draw cloth realistically. Dad suggested I get something – a magazine, perhaps – and pick something out of that and draw it. I picked a photo from the National Geographic that was lying around the living room, a photo of a young boy hauling himself up to look into the barrel of a giant (disused, I think) tank. Here is his shirt. Proof that I can draw well on occasion.
