Link portraits

(staaaaare) Rahr?

(staaaaare) Rahr?

Hum, the eyes are nice, but the chins are too angular. Even for me. I guess these pictures are improving, but TP Link is not good enough here yet… I have done better pictures, I guess I’m saying. However, I’m rather happier with the way Demon (a.k.a. OniLink) came out. Yes, I am. Except that noses done by me are at the wrong angle or something.

Defeating the King of Ikana

Yaaaah!

Yaaaah!

Mwahahaha, this is the next result of my ‘how to draw manga’ book. See how Link’s body looks slightly more realistic than usual? The King of Ikana – the bone guy dude – is also more detailed than a bunch of my villains… though I redesigned him because I couldn’t remember what he looks like. I started adding the wall, but it rather ruined the rest of the picture so I stopped.

Zela and hair and stuff

I can see you, and Link can hear you… O_O7

I was thinking about drawing in the middle of the night, and I imagined drawing this hair. So I got up and drew it. I don’t do that often. Didn’t turn out too well scanned. Then I drew Zela, using shading to see her profile in a 3/4 view. Then I drew Link’s ear because I felt like it. Yay for randomness!

Pit and Link

So I’m so far behind that I decided may as well just put it up. Um, let’s see. I guess the new Super Smash Bros. Brawl site had just gone up, and I decided to draw Pit because he looked really cool. He’s Greek! Huzzah! Except he didn’t come out nearly right, and then I tried TP Link, but he didn’t work either. Too bad this is only Pit’s second incarnation – it’s really cool, but he’s so old – the first games came out in 8-bit or whatever! It’s a bit painful. Oh, well. He’s getting some recognition now. And I understand the first game is insanely hard (as most early games are) due to not-quite-perfect game mechanics, etc.

Fire Temple

Ooooh, it's a boulder!!!

Ooooh, it’s a boulder!!!

Whoohoo! It’s the Fire Temple! I love this picture. Link looks so good. The torches work well as well. The shading is… my best shaded picture ever. I do know the shortcomings: Link has small hands, the bottom of tunic does look like a skirt, etc. But even so, the rendition of his face (what you can see of it) is very good for me, and I think I managed to get the different colours of his clothes to look different even in pencil. There’s even some dynamicism in the pose!

My brother says this is the second best picture I’ve ever drawn.

Mask of Darkness to the Island of Dreams: Chapter 7

Chapter 6

Chapter 7

Link ran until he was out of the village and stopped. If he charged ahead blindly, he was going to miss the trail.
Unfortunately, there was not much, although Saria had trained him well in tracking, and Moblins were well-known for being clumsy. That was part of the problem; there were so many Moblin tracks in that part of the island that to find Marin’s tracks among them was extraordinarily difficult.
He headed in the direction of the mountains when the trail grew so hard to find that there was basically nothing.
And all the time his heart was full of fear.

He came to the mountains and paused. If he was a fat lumbering Moblin, burdened with a light, slim girl, how would he get up?
That posed a problem for him, as there was only one way to go up into the mountains, but many ways to go after that. Link wrinkled his forehead in frustration and anxiety and ran again. There was a tower on the eastern horizon.
Through tunnels, not forsaking the darkest corner, and to the most remote plateaus, he jogged along. Already he was getting tired, and the day was almost gone. The caves were dark enough, and he had no lantern.
He came to the tower and sprang in. Continue reading
