About Frelia’s Finest, Part 3

Final wordcount: 24,492. Final pagecount: 60. Days to write: 5.

A truly gigantic chapter, in which Innes learns how to have a real relationship in a totally uncreepy way with a woman he already knows. ‘Bout time, ain’t it? I mean, there is a huge difference between realizing that your good friend is really quite attractive and you get along well and heck, why not spend your whole lives together? and stalking a pretty girl to make sure nothing hurts her. Good job, Innes. You have graduated from the totally-optional ‘creeper’ stage of life. …Now, if it was in real life, would be the time to pray for a real happily-ever-after. But since Fire Emblem is by design a fairy-tale (even if it doesn’t have fairies), happily-ever-after is pretty much guaranteed – until the sequel. : P (dun dun dunnn? …nahhhh, too much work. :3 )

I have to admit, finding these people’s characters was not my strong point. It was hard, and I’m pretty sure I failed in a lot of places. Anyone who tells me otherwise hasn’t read a fanfic that seizes the characters’ personalities and presents them in such a way that you can’t help seeing the originals. (translation: I know what’s good, and this… isn’t there yet. But it’s better than it used to be.)

Also, looking at Eirika’s Story, I’m realizing how little I knew of the rules of drama. It’s hard to put drama in when all your characters are overpowered and mow through hordes of enemies with little difficulty. Time to delevel them for story purposes! : D Actually, battles were surprisingly easy to write, this week. I wonder why?

I edited a tiny bit at the beginning of Part 2 just to add in another really good game quote that really shows Innes’ pride. …Is it just me, or did this story spiral out of control? Part 2 starts, in my Word doc, at around page 12. Part 3 starts at page 31. Needs more chapters? Or do I just write logarithmically? : P

I’ve been thinking in these fics, Ephraim and Eirika are 18, Tana is 17, and Innes is 26. Syrene is 24, Seth is 22, and Vanessa is 19. Just in case anyone was wondering.

P.S. I think Syrene is a pretty name, so Innes says ‘Syrene’ a lot. Did you notice? : P

SO. Camp NaNoWriMo begins tomorrow (or today, in 30 seconds) and you can follow me here. If you want. Anybody else trying this? Want to join me? : D Gonna try to rewrite Adhemlenei 1, AGAIN. Gonna do it this time. Blitzing through the Innes story in five days taught me that I can do some pretty wacky things with a keyboard.

(I’m also going to do wacky things with a musical keyboard in the coming month, but that’s beside the point of the current discussion. :3 )
