Reverse silhouette?

Reverse silhouette?

This is based on a really strange dream I had once. There was an old man with long hair, but he turned into a very beautiful young man still with silver-white hair, and I followed him up some moonlit stairs. So when I woke up, I thought: “He would make a fantastic boyfriend for Flaria!” So I drew him and her together at the top of the same stairs.

Hey! It’s a kiss that isn’t quite as lame as any of the others!

Marquez Danzon #2

Don't ever let your feet stop moving, and lilt like you mean it!

Don’t ever let your feet stop moving, and lilt like you mean it!

This picture was inspired by the ever-popular Danzon #2 by a certain composer named Marquez. It is fantastic and should be danced to the world over. It’s so fabulous Flairé and Flaria danced to it and I tried to draw their halting, lilting, sometimes (in Flairé’s case, anyway,) twitchy dance movements or, as here, gliding, lilting, whirling, intricate dance movements. Guess who!

Guess who!

This picture makes me go SQUEE!! everytime I see it. Can you guess why? Kalmaeirin children ftw!! It’s Zela and Flaer, and Flairé is the toddler on the right, and Flaria is the baby in arms. So cute! Especially Flairé! And Zela is beautiful and serene, yet recognizable as Zela. That makes me very proud.

I love this picture. It is my darling. (picks up ten-year-old Flairé and squeezes him)

Flairé: That’s a very nice doll you have there…

My Friends

"Don't worry, Illinia! We're here to save you from the evil blue bug aliens!" "Uhhhh, thanks!"

“Don’t worry, Lashyoillinia! We’re here to save you from the evil blue bug aliens!” “Uhhhh, thanks!”

Soooo…. this one needs a whack of explanation. Actually it doesn’t, never mind. I had a weird dream, a weird weird dream, and the end of it was mixed up Independence Day and Star Fox for GC. I was running around an increasingly ruined city full of skyscrapers and green hills, trying to dodge blue diamond insectoid aliens shooting at me. With what, I forget, which I regret because it was kind of cool. I also regret that I can’t remember if I was shooting back or not.

Anyway, when I was getting kind of outnumbered, Flairé and Flaria showed up and pulled me under cover, and then we sat just about like this for a few seconds. It was nice. I forgot my glasses again. But Flaria was wearing a tunic, not her usual gown. I’m still not happy with this picture. Flairé’s upper half is okay, and bits of us other two, but on the whole it’s not right anatomically and it doesn’t look like us. How dissatisfying.

Yasashisani!

Chibi Flairé and Flaria! Eeee!

I originally drew Flaria’s guitar backwards.

Not terribly good even for chibis, but good heads, maybe.

They’re singing that second Kiki song from the Studio Ghibli CD. The one with the acoustic guitars. The one that doesn’t sound vaguely like the Beach Boys. I have no idea what it means, but it sounds dancible. ^_^

Flaria

I tried to get Flairé to comfort me for the last picture, but he was out.

I tried to get Flairé to comfort me for the last picture, but he was out.

I was going to draw Flairé, but she came out too girly.

Er, by ‘she’ I mean he ended up as Flaria his sister. And I’m aware that androgynity… androgynousness… androgyny… (okay, I used a spellcheck) means he looks like a girl a lot anyway. But there is a limit he won’t go beyond.

Zela’s Family

The whole pile at once

The whole pile at once

This is Zela and Flaer’s complete family. From L-R, T-B (top to bottom), Flaer, the hero of the story, who has since had a slight makeover, Zela, the heroine of the story, Flairé, looking wierd and the narrator of at least part of it, Flaria, the token gracious female, Menad, who’s looking quite a beauty here despite the fact that he goes evil at some point, Marteth, who we met yesterday and who still has stupid hair and this time a stupid face as well, Bayn, wearing Griffin-land style clothes and looking a bit odd (jaw too straight), Gullac, winking roguishly at the viewer because that’s what he does, and finally, Mathaning, the naive innocente. This is the best picture of him.

So, finally, the whole of Zela’s family has been represented graphically at least once. Good!

Zela Small Family Portrait

We should have dressed up a bit more... at least Mom let her hair down

We should have dressed up a bit more… at least Mom let her hair down

Yes, one of my faceless pictures. Hey, I think it works, and even looks good sometimes. Family portrait of the first four members of Zela’s family. The other five I didn’t have character designs yet for. Though, I did write their names on the side, in preparation… and it looks like wise Bayn has his name as Bayn-nu. Well, I don’t know. Anyway, Zela’s got her hair loose for once, and the pose sort of works, but their feet all look stupid. And Flairé must be shy about his hands or something.
