Hey there

Updates on my life, whether you want to know or not:

I’m back from playing for my saxophonist at the Provincial music festival. He played super, and so did the quartet, but they all only got runner up. But whatever. I’m very proud of all the saxophonists. Although we had a bit of an adventure getting back! Also I now know about five times as much Queen as I did before going. I also watched a whole episode of The Daily Show, which I’d never seen before at all, and I ate way too much. Also now I believe I am sick because my throat is all swollen.

The painting I’m working on is pretty decent; I’m working on the dragon now. I think I pretty good job of her eye.

I’m listening to my recital CD and I should have some vids ready to post soon. The guy in the recording studio must be a nerd, or else I spoke clearer than I thought I did, because he managed to get the title of the encore, and the composer, right down to the birth date. : D Well, love to him anyway, whoever it was. It’s a little sloppier than I remember, but recordings never sound as good as live, because when it’s live you get caught up in the energy of the performer – hopefully. Or else they’re just bad. Although the Dutilleux sounds pretty decent. And the Haydn. The Brahms is just crazy-hard… and I haven’t listened to the Ravel or encore yet.

Actually now that I’ve heard it, the encore sounds better if you can’t see how I flail all over the keys. XD

It’s amazing to think that only a few months ago I played a whole recital that impressed everyone. Someday, someday, people’s emotions will be my playthings! (just kidding, lol)

Edmund and Charlotte

I believe I forgot to upload these when I first made them… These are the main characters of this year’s Script Frenzy script. The boy is Edmund Williams and the girl is Charlotte Allister. I made these with the… how do you say it? Gaia Dream Avatar maker. : P Basically, they met at some sort of co-ed boarding school, and then Edmund graduated, and then Charlotte was adopted by some cranky lady and courted by a creepy man, so Edmund has to somehow save her. …Yeah it’s a pretty bad script. But it’s the first time I ever tried to write historically-inaccurate Victorian teen romance, so whatever. It was fun.

At the end they run away to Transylvania with Danny the Gypsy (hey-o, Danny!) but in the sequel (if there will be a sequel : P ) they have to come back to England so Edmund can succeed his father as Lord Williams because his cousin who became Lord Williams is dying but determined to cause trouble in the meantime. …That might be even a better plot than this one. Also, it’s not really Victorian if the only resource I have is Jane Austen. Keh.

I’m sitting outside on the deck right now (not in the sun, because then I couldn’t see the screen – I’m having trouble even now) and it’s quite nice. There are bumblebees all over the apple tree.

Agnus Dei

Starting a completely different script that has nothing to do with kalmaei. It’s a Victorian teen romance based on something that happened in my dream when I had a nap this afternoon. I need a last name for the heroine.

Grad thoughts

I am officially done with forms. Now I just need to get transcripts out! And auditions. Can’t forget about auditions. How do I get auditions? I will check.
I am soooo spazzed on not enough sleep. And chocolate. And rock and roll. Yay.

Pipe organ week 2010

Sorry, no art today! I have been so busy the last 8 days (except Sunday, which was a rest day for me) it’s ridiculous. You may ridicule if you like.

Saturday: Pipe Organ Workshop (POW) with Niel

Everybody loves Niel. He’s super-enthusiastic, and he knows tons of things. Of course, I was hanging out with John (Nick’s student) all day and he knows tons of things too, even though he doesn’t have much opportunity to actually practice like he would like to. (I was a volunteer at the event; I looked after some kids while Niel and Nick taught some other kids) But everybody loves Niel, and I wish he’d been around for longer than Sat-Mon. Oh well, he remembered me! Continue reading

Andy is cutest Yellow Jersey ever?

Regarding the Tour de France:

The Tour headed through the region of Savoy, which, as Cedric is proud to point out, his family used to rule several centuries ago.

Cadel was riding with a broken arm; he fell off the leaders rather early on the last climb of the day, the terrifying Col de la Madeleine. I still think he can win, or at least come in third, but it will take some grit. Fortunately, he’s an Australian ex-mountain biker, so he is not lacking in that. I bet he’s in pain though, and I hope that he gets a chance to heal and recover through the next few stages that are a bit flatter. His team was really super today, though I was also surprised to see George Hincapie going backwards even sooner than Cadel. However, he’s not called Big George for nothing; the big guys find mountains hard. The climbers – Cadel, Andy, Contador – they’re all between 140 and 155 lbs. Continue reading
