Firestorm, take 2

Here we go again! I wasn’t happy with Firestorm at all, yesterday, so I tried again using some different methods. I based this one more directly off the sketch I made during Keyboard Lit class (March 14). Casual dress this time! And, casual Northern dress, because Griffonlanders almost always wear white robes, not shirts with buttons. : P He must be visiting. Anyway, no fur this time, but the rest of him is much better. The feathers in the background are supposed to be as if from Sunspot’s wings. But the purple is just there for contrast… no purple on Sunspot!

The Wacom tablet is the greatest creation for the computer EVER.

Heeheehee, I just played Guild Wars with Zeb and Tai. It’s like meeting celebrities! XD Anyway, we played through lots of missions, starting with the one my brother and I were stuck on. We saw a dragon! It’s very cool to play with people who are not in the same room. : ) So we are a little closer to the end of the game.

My gaming goals for this next month: beat Guild Wars, beat Ephraim’s Story, possibly beat Ocarina (if I can) and beat Radiant Dawn because it was a lot of trouble to find and thus I should beat it, even if the story is not the best. I suppose also Shadow Dragon, because it only works on my brother’s Gameboy.

Hoo! That should do it. Coupled with the painting goals over there, and the piano and organ, and the part-time job, and the LotR reading, I should be busy. Which should I do first? : )

Firestorm

Commander Firestorm, the General of the Griffonland and first of Queen Yoia’s Griffon Knights. Not pictured: his buddy Sunspot. Firestorm is simultaneously wild-hearted and cool and collected, making him an ideal choice to keep the Griffon Knights in hand and ready to be unleashed. He (obviously) likes putting things in his hair, but doesn’t worry too much about his appearance otherwise, as long as he is sharp and ready for anything. He fusses more over Sunspot, making sure his griffon buddy is well groomed and fed, and making him wear crazy headdresses in festivals, which Sunspot entirely enjoys.

Well… I’m not really happy with this picture. About all I am happy with is the feathers and the fur. For the fur… this great tutorial helped me out a lot. It’s kind of like drawing flowers! Except then you make them hairy! …That sounded really weird. Anyway. His hair started out promisingly but then it kind of turned into that. His braid should be looser. Maybe I shouldn’t have started with anime-style hair. Yeah. That would do it. Also I fussed over his eyes way more than eyes should be fussed over in a 400×400 quickpaint, and they still look weird. But they’re better than when I started… I started with them too small. : P

I should go to bed; my eyes are having trouble focussing. BUT I WANNA DRAW MOAR

I’m reading The Two Towers much much faster than I was reading Fellowship. I wonder why?

At last, it is done. Mostly. I didn’t do anything special with the lighting or adding textures, but I may rethink that. Now that I’ve been zoomed in on her face for so long it doesn’t look right; there are proportions off. I did tweak the placement of her left eye, and that’s about all I can do for now without entirely redrawing it. Which I could do too. But… I wanted to try to make the existing lineart work if I could.

Or you could say I’m lazy. :P

Mmkay! I’m going to take a nap. I stayed up too late last night watching a friend show me LotROnline, and it looks awesome. I can live with all the made-up stuff, because Glorfindel is actually blonde, and the hobbits are adorable, and the world is really huge and really really beautifully done. As my friend said, they knew they were creating the game for LotR nerds, so it had to be good or else. : )

Then my plan is to practice piano, draw Commander Firestorm, and maybe Ryder. And get Flairé back up to speed on GW.

Flippant backstory

This is what happens when I am too sleepy to make sense, yet I have inspiration that needs to go on the page. Brain vomit. It’s amazing(ly bad). You remember this guy? Lam’rokruhl, Flairé’s second in command? Probably not. That’s okay. He’ll only become important in book 3 or so, which I haven’t gotten to yet. I should maybe start thinking about that. >_<;7

Why am I writing about Lamro when I’m re-outlined Book 1 again again? I’m confused…

– Lamro was a Half-Exiled, and his wife was a Half-Exiled, but she was exiled for theft (from a greedy person, repeatedly – she was acting the Robin Hood) and he was exiled for his brother’s crimes (vandalism, mostly – hideous, violent vandalism), actually – too spineless to expose him. Then Lamro and his wife met and were married, and then met wandering unicorns, and kept bumping into them until they partnered up. And then they had a kid, a boy. I think. They are actually good people fallen into hard circumstances. So when the war starts Lamro volunteers for the militia, and his wife would too except who’s going to take care of the kid(s)? So but they actually have a place to live now! Because Flairé finds them a place, because Lamro is randomly assigned to his unit and Flairé’s like hey you are a smart dude you can help me out oh you have (a) kid(s) let me find you a safe place to put them yay! And Lamro’s like captain dude you talk a lot. And Flairé’s like lol I know!

Different kinds of Muila

Muila, sharpies!

(758)

So! Here’s a bunch of Muilas for you. I think the greyscale one came out pretty good except for the hair which I would love to redo but am not sure how. I used my silver Sharpie on the second one, which is why the armour looks funny. Also I have no good skin-tone Sharpies. I should fix that.

The lighter part of the rainbow stripe is where I drew the colour blender, trying to figure out how it works. : P

Also! There are now Zela and Gullac stickers/magnets/keychains in the Zazzle store. I’ll be trying to put Muila on a few things, too.
