esgalwenavatar And so my brand new Shadow Warrior scouts who are more than half LotR models were discovered, and immediately became the target of all ranged Bretonnian attacks. I was trying to get the Bretonnian damsel to look psychotic in the second frame and sexy-evil in the last frame, but it didn’t work too well. And there’s supposed to be a ton more corn in the first panel. The Bret soldier doesn’t look too bad, actually. All the elves have short legs, though.

Check back tomorrow to see how many casualties I had! (hint – I think I started with 9 Shadow Warriors)

I forgot to say that the other day we finally got the last support in Fire Emblem 8. It was Seth-Cormag A, which we had never gotten before because in my first game I supported Seth-Eirika A, and then Kevin’s game he supported Cormag with someone to A. So here is the short version:

Seth: Cormag, I’ve noticed you’re awesome. Want to join my knights?

Cormag: No wai.

Seth: I knew it!

Cormag: But we can hang out sometime.

Seth: Yay!

This is not particularly exciting, because it’s so darned easy to get supports in FE8 due to all the Towers of Valni and such. (play three levels, support your characters through each one, and then don’t save and start again with other supports.) Just wait until I get 100% supports in FE7! That will be a trick, I assure you.

Started Tactician and the Jewel Chapter 5. Should be interesting because there’s a snowstorm. Is that why I’ve been listening to Christmas music? Oh, well, I can’t get Safety Dance out of my head again, (the jester has a Men Without Hats shirt!) and I’ve been listening to a lot of Charles Trenet, and Ash Grove is back in my head again (but not the annoying Rimmer March, thank goodness) and I suddenly had the urge to listen to the Bonzo Dog Band (hunting tigers out in Indiyah…)

I’m getting this urge to go running again… I can’t today, as I didn’t get up in time to go before work (10 hours of sleep, booyah) but it’s nice and cool in the mornings now, and I have those new shoes I’ve only used once, and I am trying to get up at 7:00 in the morning and it shouldn’t be too hard as long as I don’t stay up past 10:00 working on Tactician and the Jewel. Or Ephraim. I’m doing both at the same time and boy is it confusing.

I drew a picture of Zela and Flaria yesterday. I suddenly realized: I only ever draw Flaria with her elder brother. She has other family members, but she seems isolated from them! So I drew a picture of ‘mother and daughter’. I’m not sure it came out as such, but the two in the picture look good. Especially Zela. It’s been a little while since I’ve drawn her and it’s always nice to draw someone I haven’t drawn in a while… Flaria did not come out so well for whatever reason. Well, you’ll see it when it’s posted. Maybe I should do another one. Yeah! And then one of Flairé and Flaer!

Can you believe it, my brother thought Zela and Flairé were Zela and Flaer?

Flairé: Married to my mother? Ew.

rinakoavatar This page finally cuts back to Falamir and his mysterious sense of sight, informing his captain Elfin of what he saw (Elfin is so cute!). Then the Bretonnian Men-at-arms hiding in the ‘cornfield’ wised up to it too. The Bretonnian damsel cast the crow spell, that has flocks of crows attack a unit, but the only one even hit was Silros and as you can see it just bounced comically off his helmet. Then my mage cast Uranon’s Thundebolt on the charging knights, which did a little better. …I need to draw you a map to show what the battlefield looked like. Drat.

Check back tomorrow to see the villainess for the first time!

linksadicon This page was just an excuse to draw Elfin, really. As you may have noticed, he’s really handsome. So, other than that, it… doesn’t do anything. Sorry. I meant it to introduce the units, and give Teraluin some more character, but in the end it was pretty useless… oh wait, Falamir sees something. That’s really important! Remember that! Except then there’s a rather pointless cut to the blue-eyed commander and Falamir’s helmet changes design between panels. Oh, whatever.

I think this may have been the first battle my spearmen took part in.

Check back tomorrow to see if Falamir’s helmet changes anymore! Also to see what he saw, if anything!

I’m a-going to Vancouver in two weeks! So excited! I can’t wait to see those Vancouver people. And Othello. Which will make me cry but whatever it’s Shakespeare.

I actually got an adequate amount of sleep last night because I went to bed three hours earlier than usual. Let’s see if that helps!

gullacav This was a true scenario, up to a point… I’m not sure what the original circumstances were, but I do remember quite clearly that my mage (here given the name Linyo which means ‘pool’, and whom I do not have a model that resembles these images to represent him – I just drew a generic mage for the comic. I don’t even remember which model I used. It was three years ago, okay?) really really wanted that Jewel of the Dusk, which is only 15 points and gives him an extra power die to cast spells with. The Starwood Staff, on the other hand, gives him +1 to the result of his roll, though if he rolls double 1s the spell still backfires. I got really lazy on the second panel, but I spent all my creativity making the silly chibi unhappy Linyo and the resigned Teraluin.

Flairé: Teraluin looks like me, just blonde and blue eyed.

Good call. There might actually be a reason for that.

Flairé: Really? Besides the fact that I’m the basic reference for your basic male elf?

No, that would be it.

Oh, yeah, please comment! And vote –> if you like. I like them reader interactivity. But no spam. I don’t like spam.

Check back tomorrow to see if these goofy guys ever get underway and out to that battlefield!

I have three Sinfonias memorised! C major, C minor, and D major! Working on D minor. E-flat major is going to be a pain. My family went to a baseball game yesterday (I didn’t – I stayed back and worked on Ceniro and piano) and it was pretty cold. It also rained heavily for five minutes and I went and stood in it. I need to work more rainshowers into my stories, especially the Zela stories. I also finished Chapter 4 of The Tactician and the Jewel. Now we’re really getting somewhere! We have recruited the cavaliers!

The best part was that last night my brother and I went to see “Wingfield: Lost and Found”, a Wingfield Farm… drama. Rod Beattie is the cast, and wow it was fantastic seeing it in person. I remember seeing the first show on TV, and we own the first book, but all of it is soooo funny! If you ever get the chance to see it, you should.

Paraphrase of a skit from the first half:

Walt: Hey, look at all these yellow things pouring out of this hole in the ground!

Freddie and the dog, Spike: OMG RUN FOR YOUR LIFE IT’S YELLOWJACKETS!!!

Walt: (Back in the kitchen…) Wow, Freddie, I never knew those things could fly so fast.

Freddie: I never knew you could run so fast! We were goin’ pretty good but you flew by us like we were running backwards!

Walt: Well, I read in a magazine once how to get rid of those. You dump a pot of boiling water down the hole.

Walt: Back in the kitchen, we discovered that baking soda is an excellent remedy for stings. (there was another hole.)

Freddie: Well, back in the day, before we were environmentally conscious, we’d dump a load of fertilizer down the hole and some gasoline and light ‘er up.

Walt: …Isn’t that what terrorists use?

Freddie: … … …Well, we thought of it first!

Walt: Back in the kitchen, we discovered that baking soda is an excellent remedy for burns as well. (there was a third hole.)

Then there’s the line about the hens and the NDP, the cow-catching texting skit (ahahahahahaha), the water witches, a piano recital accompanied by voice with the music of “Frank Scherbert” eventually sung a capella, “Questa sera semplice” (it wasn’t), music composition, and the water bottling plant.

Rod Beattie is amazing. He does all those characters perfectly, though I have trouble imagining Maggie… I guess since he’s been doing it for 15-20 years he ought to be good at it! But I’m just still amazed how he can play all those people from Don’s 72-year-old dad Delbert to Freddie’s teenage nephews Willy and Dave.

Cow texts:

i c m

i c m2

(nogo??? some acronym I don’t know) on plan a gtg

cows 2 cco (calvin curry’s orchard)

gggg, these cows r fast

but i r faster

fifo (Freddie: Uh, uh, uh, uh, ‘friggen idiot fell off’)

willy fell off 2 lol   (Squire: Low limb (branch)? Freddie: Laugh out loud)

turmith2icon This is a short (10-page) comic I drew based on a Warhammer battle between my High Elves and my brother’s Bretonnians. The guy on the right is my famed “Blue-eyed Commander”, here given the name Teraluin, which means “Straight-blue”. The guy on the left is his “Green-eyed Second”, here given the name Elehtyar, meaning “Star-spearman”. These are not ‘canon’ names, just names I gave to them for the sake of them being able to speak to each other normally. I drew these two frames on separate pieces of paper, so as to get greater detail. Which I didn’t because I was lazy. But they did come out slightly better than if I had done it all on one piece of paper. I was intending to colour the backgrounds. Tuesday night I just scanned them all and then yesterday I pasted them together and added text. I don’t have Photoshop on my laptop, so getting it not to look horribly shoddy was a bit of a challenge. Next, y’know, I need Photoshop and an art tablet and then I’ll be unstoppable.

Check back tomorrow for the continuation of this thrilling set-up! : P

Picture 500! Good gravy, it only took three years!

And yes, I was utterly flattened in the seige game yesterday. My Lothern Seaguard managed to rally just as they got to the walls, which was a good thing otherwise they’d jump right off and kill themselves. I managed to hold the rear wall, sending the attacking Men-at-arms running around in circles as they fled from my commander and then rallied and then fled again. One bolt thrower was taken out, but the other managed to nearly wholly destroy a weakened unit. Then the gates came down, and the knights moved in to contest castle quarters. The four spearmen left on one wall were swept away by the Men-at-arms sweeping across the wall from the gate section, but were in turn run down by the Lothern Seaguard. So! At the end of the game, I had two contested castle quarters and two quarters in the hands of Bretonnians. Phooey. I need to paint more guys. I’ll finish those Dragon Princes someday, and then I’ll work on Voronwë and Idril (dressed up) so I can have alternate Commander and Mage choices, respectively. And then I should go and buy some Phoenix Guard and paint them up as Folk of the Swan, so that Tuor has something to lead. I’ll rebase that moron, too, so he’s not on a large base that doesn’t rank up with small bases.

And that’s all that’s happened recently. I have found Duessel in Ephraim’s Story, and Ceniro is sitting around the mountains wrestling with all the stuff I talked about yesterday, and I went to salsa last night – super fun, though there were only six people total – and Jon was sick and one girl didn’t dance so it was four girls in a tiny circle. I learned the lead part! There were also herds of cute adorable baby bunnies about outside. …Due to odd circumstances, my brother knows the follow part. Ced and I were trying to teach Braden salsa and the girl we invited didn’t show up so we had to use my bro. The other thing I’ve been doing is I’ve started memorizing Sinfonias. I have 1.5 out of 15 done. I think I can get 5 done by the end of the week. And then I can worry more about musicality and technical ease on those 5. I also remembered another Photoshop picture I did once, but I don’t remember where to find it. I’ll go a-hunting for it one of these days.

My ‘weekend’ is almost over! Aaaaaaah! Pickles.
