poolpartyiconThis is a bunch of pictures on one page; the top three are Scherene and my different styles contrasted, with me drawing Marth and Flair(é). I don’t know what date it is because I didn’t put one, but Ceniro is marked Aug 25, so that’s what I put. On the back of this picture is a written description of Ceniro:

“Lyn watched Ceniro. As he attacked, he walked the same speed that he normally did, but when in (close) range of the enemy, his staff blurred through the air, stopping only when it came into contact with bandit flesh. It took only three hits – 2 to the vulnerable sides and ribs and one to the head – to knock one unconscious.”

Now, part of the rules for actually using Ceniro include the fact that his staff does not kill – when an enemy is at 1 HP, it falls unconscious exactly the same way as when affected by a sleep staff.

I noticed while listening to music over at The Hylia, that Twilight Princess owes a lot musically not just to Ocarina of Time, but to A Link to the Past, as well. The Hyrule Castle theme, particularly, is used frequently. I like it! Also some boss battle music, and other interesting little themes.

Only three more pictures left in this sketchbook! Then more minis!

I’ve been working on Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, and I hope to improve soon.

elrondandgaladrieliconToday’s picture is a guest picture, and it’s done by Scherene, who came over to my place for the first time and I bored her with my sketchbooks. It’s appropriate, considering today I was away for my Graduation ceremony.

The music I picked, the middle part of Jupiter, wasn’t needed after all as some other girl volunteered some Pink Floyd (???) before I got there. Meh. Seven grads in all… Picture taking took a while because one person was late. That was before the music stuff… which lasted all of 5 seconds and I didn’t notice it anyway. Then there were a bunch of speeches, some of which were quite interesting, and then people got introduced and handed their certificate. My French teacher, who rambles on nicely, introduced me. It was funny because he said he remembered something from English class – your speech should fit on a recipe card. So, he put it there, but he still used his other papers, too, and he couldn’t find a blank recipe card! So, he didn’t make a mistake and say ‘piecrust’, but he warned us. Then I won two bursaries, and the Governor General’s Bronze Medal!?!!! The other people who won bursaries all sounded like great people; one boy single-handedly organized the Student Council, and a girl was with NIDES for a similar reason as me – she wanted to focus on her dance. I was not expecting to win a medal. It’s pretty. And my piano teacher gave me a pretty necklace! Pretty, I say!

Dad plays Deadlock 1 obsessively.

I have begun play Link’s Awakening again, and I’m about half-way through. I managed to get the picture of Link and Marin for the first time! I’m playing to remember the plot so that I can write the sequel to Timeless Ocarina with sense. Since the game plot is pretty sketchy, I have lots of freedom! Also, it’s a bit silly. The things people say… the hints are ludicrously obvious.

gauthav2Scherene again, looking much better.

Since we cleaned the house on Friday, Saturday was spent in doing homework. I hate playing Beethoven’s cadenza for Piano Concerto #2: it’s so haaaaard. I like Debussy much better.

gauth01My other friend of this time period, Scherene, who showed an interest in Lord of the Rings similar to mine, but not one that actually let us get around to doing some of the things I would have found supremely interesting – learning Quenya together, for example. She’s a ‘fiddle girl’, through and through. She’s rather good at it, too. Anyhow, this is an absolutely terrible picture and should be ignored. And she was watching me draw Thomas when I drew this. If that makes sense.

Running by myself is great! Also we cleaned up the whole house today because Aunt Debbie and a friend of hers planned to stay the night. We hung up my pictures and my bullatin board in my room, and now the walls are comfortably covered with my favourite clutter. There’s a family portrait from before my brother was born, and a watercolour of me by Grandma – my birthday present, remember – and a poster of the Earth at Night from National Geographic, and a picture of Link next to a picture of my Silver Helms and underneath tracings of Raven, Eliwood, and Hector, and on my bullatin board there are things like a review of the Norouet group from Québec, and an article about New Zealand and its role in LotR from a magazine, and a couple of articles about a young pianist who was busking downtown and was attacked last October by a drug addict for $5, and then saved by a street painter. The pianist girl is doing her Grade 7 RCM this year, and she’s my hero now. (so is the street painter)

Oh, yes, and today I snuck down and bought another green running shirt after organ practice. The lady at the counter was the same one as on Monday, and she remembered me and asked how my new running was going. I bought the one Mom liked, and it was supposed to be a surprise, but Dad blew it by telling her I needed another running shirt, and Mom blew it by not recognizing it as a new shirt the first day that I wore it and she saw it. >_>7

firetempleavatarWell, how many days has it been? 1… 2… 3… 4… well, it took five days for my brother to break his promise. He got ahead of me in Twilight Princess! The reason why I couldn’t stop him was because I was at a masterclass. Blah. Rahr!

This picture is of my fellow students at CYMC, or the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre, an orchestral summer camp. Top row is Evan Hesketh, the concert master (very badly drawn), then Georgia, an accordian player playing… trumpet??? I can’t remember. The back of Ali’s head… badly drawn… Scherene’s drawing of somebody strange… then the big head is Trent, fiddler and violinist extrordinaire, and the really small head is Evan from Medicine Hat – he found a huge jellyfish at the beach during the barbecue – and below is Jeremy, Trent’s buddy, my stand partner, and the wierdest but funniest guy, and then Scherene, my best friend at this time. At first that was going to be Trent, but it looked like a girl. I hope that illustrates my skill with a pencil. -_-7

Scherene is my friend because she likes Lord of the Rings very much, and expressed an interest in learning Quenya with me. Unfortunately, this project never got off the ground. We mostly played fiddle together. Actually, six of these people are Comox Valley residents and members of Fiddlejam. I was one too. Then I got tired of it and dropped it. But it was pretty fun the first couple of years.

Twilight Princess babble:

Colin’s the greatest! Whoo! Epona rules! Yay! Where is Ilia! I don’t know! ^_^7

Sumo is wierd, but I can at least say this: only X-wings are sexy, only Squirtles are cute, and only Link looks so good with his shirt off. I like it better on, of course, but I don’t mind seeing him without it.
Link: WHAAAT???
Flairé: Relax. It’s only a couple of scenes. She’ll get over it.
Link: Fine. I’m going to go see Colin and see if he’s awake yet.
Flairé: Righto.

I like how he dusts his hands after tossing Gorons around. Still…

The postman is in his wierdest incarnation yet! Run! Chase the orc/moblin on his stupid big boar! Save the kiddies! Soak in the hot springs with the Gorons who are too relaxed to be hostile (yay)! Chomp anything that comes near you with very sharp teeth!

There haven’t been any writing projects posted recently. I’ve been too busy practicing piano (and beginning very hard four-part choir sight-reading. It’s easier for them than it is for me. -_-7) and playing you-know-what too much to really get to work on them. However, I’m halfway through Timeless Ocarina: Chapter 9: When is a Hero? and I’m trying to find enough material for Chapter 10: Horse. It seems that I actually have to add new material to these chapters to make them the same length as the others! Now, how to make them interesting and insightful…

Rekka no Ken is also stewing. As I recall, I’m in the middle of the Rescue Ninian level (that’s not the name of the chapter, by the way). Eliwood will have to wait for his dramatic entry.

I hate canned salmon. It’s all gritty and full of spines.
