ranaavatar2 This is a picture, obviously, of Link, Rana, and Saria (sans fairies). They’re returning home to Kokiri Village from a long day of playing in the Lost Woods, where Rana hurt her foot. Again, I can’t do perspective too well, and I didn’t use a reference for Saria. So that’s why she’s not wearing her cute little green boots. Link turned out the best again, but still looks funny.

Went running today. Huzzah! Managed to run all the way from half-way up the first hill to the duck pond. Next goal - to run all the way from the bottom of the first hill to the bottom of the first hill - having gone half way around the golf course first.

I’m off to count how many days before I catch up to the present, and then I’m going to mess around with my Cavalry of the Silver Fountain. Probably won’t do too much. I can’t work on the X-wing until the cockpit is finished. And I need to practice. Today’s schedule includes Franck and Creston. Now that my iTunes has shot ahead from the Monn symphony (which I was sure was in B-flat) to the Alleluia from the Mass for Easter Sunday, I want to start composing my Mass - the one that I wrote the Ite Missa Est for Three Sopranos for. But first I should work on the Ash Grove Variations. Oooh, so much to do. I want to do all of it at once right now. Heeheehee.

EDIT: I’m back! I have 65 more pictures to post as of today. I’m sure I’ll draw more, and put up random other bits like whatever minis I haven’t yet shown you like the banner I finished just yesterday, but I’m getting down there! Also I’m going to be completely useless and play Fire Emblem 8 (Ephraim’s game) first after Franck. Maybe I’ll start working on that story. My brother keeps saying I should write that one because it’ll beat any other fanfiction I ever wrote hollow. Whatever. Let’s go trash the soldiers of Za’abul Marsh! I thought I was at Taizel but I guess I beat that.

Running into swords but not literally

...
Filed under: Random blog posts, Running — Tags: — Illinia @ 10:55 pm

I went running! It was a little bit cool out, and it was very lightly raining… the rain in my hair afterwards was like tiny bits of crystal. It was pretty (the rain, not my hair. My hair was rather awful.) And I have shiny new shoes! Shiny shiny shiny. Well, they’re not shiny anymore. I took them on the trail in the rain, so now they have tiny bits of bark mulch stuck to them.

I do love the smells around when it’s raining in the summer… there’s the smell of warm wet trees, warm wet grass, warm wet concrete, warm wet bark…

Flairé: Warm wet muifrurd

You shut up.

Flairé: Aw.

The other thing I have to blog about today (lots to blog about today, for some reason…) is swords. I’ve been looking at ‘em. On the interweb. I’m looking for a Zela-type sword. Oddly enough, I’ve found this shiny at three different sites (search ‘classic medieval decorator sword’ if it doesn’t appear on the last one), all $9 cheaper than the last one.

Another sword with the same vague shape is this one, which looks pretty nice - clean lines, a little bit more intricate than perhaps a purely historical sword.

This one is quite plain, and not the right shape of cross piece, but it has a heavy pommel (even if not an amythest orb, but whatever - where on earth would I find that anyway?) and black on the handle of the hilt, and it has a good looking blade. And it’s spring steel!

Here’s a super cheap one with similar characteristics, although I think I actually like the straight cross piece of the previous one rather than the dramatically curved cross piece.

Okay, take a look at this. Here’s Glamdring-of-the-movie (another contender) with a nice shape of hilt and a good long blade - but it’s the cheap one. Here’s the real collector’s one. Doesn’t it look so much better? Of course, there’s a $165 price difference between them. Heh. That would be why.

I’m not sure which one I want yet. I’m still thinking, and looking. It’s a terrible decision to have to make. :P

And that’s all I’ve looked at so far. Later, perhaps tomorrow, I’ll give you a hint as to why I’ve started thinking about it now. I mean, besides the fact that now I know two people who personally own swords.

gullacavFinally, a Nayru semi-serious portrait to match (and surpass) Ralph’s. I left out the hands because I knew I would ruin them. The anime hair doesn’t go so well with hairstrokes, either. But the tunic came out vaguely okay.

Why am I sleeping so much? I have no idea.

This morning my brother and I watched an episode of the Original Star Trek. Heeheehee. Scotty has a girlfriend! Whoohoo. We have that channel because it comes with the channel that has the Tour de France  on it, and the Tour de France is of course the most important race in the world. :P :)

kentsainhorsesiconThen I tried to draw an actual serious portrait of Ralph. Fail. Oh well. He looks vaguely bishie. Although he has a stupid hat.

My brother is plowing through our new Lara Croft game. It’s pretty cool.

I love this song. Thanks, .t! My brother hates it with all the burning unreasoning passion of a thousand Arakyd ST2 concussion missiles.

flariaavHere are some sketches of Ralph, who has a groovy 16 bar theme in the game in which he appears, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages.  The theme made me want to draw him, so I did. Not very well, but the reference art I was using was really really small. Not that that’s an excuse. Hooray for Ralph/Nayru.

Here’s Ralph’s Theme if you were wondering about it. I’ve tried to arrange it before, so I can add it to my arsenal of ‘video-game-themes-I-can-play-on-piano’. I should try again sometime.
