The Spine of My World

SO GUYS I think I figured out what the Spine is about. At least for me. It’s another love song for [John], as in: he is the backbone of her world…? Anyway I made a visual representation of the two verses and refrain. At first I was just going to do John, when I realized that verse 1 is entirely about Red. The interlude is still incomprehensible but I thought this was kind of neat.

Also, references: frame is from Tigers-stock, John’s hands are referenced from a random Shutterstock photo. I’m not 100% happy with his head but I’m not sure how to fix it so I’m not. For Red, I was going to use Night’s Rest by Mucha of course, but then it turns out that the reason I wanted to use it was because I was subconsciously thinking of the Transistor album cover! So I didn’t. : P

The Kiss

Another scene from my fanfic, the first kiss. It was surprisingly difficult to find image references of kissing couples with a big height difference. I also looked up art nouveau kitchens, and the pattern around the edge is based on that one picture of Red eating pizza with the sink in the background. I’m not sure my ‘art nouveau’ fits into what we see of her apartment there, but I tried, guys, I tried.

Two more Transistor images to go! One based on The Spine (I think I finally figured out an interpretation I like) and one based on the Delain song Stardust. Those ones will be more paint-intensive, so will take longer.

Fashion Week

transistor1fashionweek

Transistor fanart!!! Red and [John], whom she’s dragged along to participate in Fashion Week with her, as happens in my fanfic. Lazy shading but don’t care. Did you know that there is NO avant garde male art nouveau fashion AT ALL? Kind of a snag in designing this picture! And period male art nouveau fashion is… suits. Not exactly what I need…

I love these two darlings! More to come…!

And Just Like That, They’re Gone – Transistor Vignettes

This game has OBSESSED me. I haven’t even finished Recursion mode yet (trying to beat Performance Test 7 and also play with all limiters on – kinda hard XD ). But… I needed to write this, to look at Red and her man in happier times. I’ve chosen the name John for my boxer, though I tried not to use it too much. (I realized after I started using it regularly that his haircut suggests he’s a bit of a Mark, tho : P ) I adore these two; they are my new OTP for all time or something. At least until I find my next OTP.

I also tried not to explain the songs too much from my point of view; just like the rest of the game, everyone has their own meanings. Hopefully you can catch the gist of my interpretations without overriding your own, if you know what I mean. Except for that one song, I had to go into detail there because I really didn’t get it. (Still don’t get The Spine, though… post theories in the comments? XD ) Also a big exercise in “show-don’t-tell”, thank you to my main beta reader who always pushes me to do better there (and who helped me brainstorm big chunks of setting here). Keep letting me know what I missed, you’re awesome.

There is a bit of musician real-talk in this fic. (I’m so happy, a protagonist I can write realistic details for without doing piles of research!) If it’s about music and in here, it’s probably true. Cool, huh?

Essentially this is a giant piece of fluff, even the serious parts, so if you like fluff, super fluff, all the fluff, READ ON

If you haven’t played Transistor, DO THAT FIRST OR ELSE THIS WON’T MAKE SENSE AND ALSO COLOSSAL SPOILERS AND ALSO IT’S AN AMAZING GAME

Sybil

So I wrote a Transistor fanfic… I’m writing another longer one about Red and friend, but this one came into my head last night. I’ve edited it a bit, but please give me your feedback! <3

Note: Since this writing, I found the subtitle files and read through them, which informed me that apparently Sybil departed from her comrades in the Camerata to find Red on her own before becoming Processed, so this fic doesn’t square with that obviously.

Sybil

Tonight would be the night. Tonight I would be able to get rid of him, and save her, and maybe she would hate me at first, but someday she would understand.
The same hour that I first heard her sing Paper Boats, I went to my comrades in the Camerata and presented Red as a desirable target. That song, overflowing with adoration and steadfast tenderness for that nobody, should never have been written. I could not have borne it any longer. He had to die.
And without him there, she would eventually love me as I loved her. Continue reading
