This picture can be found in the story chapter below, and is the last of the illustrations for the Pent story to date. I rather like this one; I had no reference for Pent but he came out rather well. This was the second picture I drew, so it’s a little out of order. In this picture, Ceniro is receiving a magical device designed to help him plot strategy. It’s like a GPS, sort of. I’m rather proud of the wilted flower by the waterbarrel. The stick thing that Pent has is his heal staff.

I’m listening to the Alain Litanies again… I borrowed the music from the UVic library today, so I should be able to start learning it in December after classes end! It’s exciting, but the quote at the beginning is rather sad. Of course, I can’t speak French terribly well, so I probably have it wrong.

In other news, the Liszt is going well, and I think I’m going to write about Mendelssohn and Folksong in my paper that’s due next Wednesday. Hooray! And I need to get working again on NNWM because I’m only 5000 words ahead now. And I have chorus testing tomorrow. Gah! There’s so much to be done at once! What am I doing here? Oh, it’s suppertime anyway. Goodbye! (runs)

Rekka no Ken Vol.2 Cover

Woot! This is my big dramatic cover for The Tactician and the Jewel, showing Ceniro valiantly vaulting over a rock, and his employer about to kick big fiery butt over on the right. And, of course, all the minor Player Characters around him with their names attached so I don’t forget who is who. A few of them you might know, if I drew them in greater detail! Some of my friends have already seen this. Apparently they like the horses. This is flattering.

…Actually you might know all of the PCs if I drew them in greater detail and you knew what my inspirations were. I’m only missing a couple of guys, like the shaman. He’s not at the part of the story this scene is from, which is a generic battle scene somewhere between chapters 4 and 5, I think?

Erk and Ceniro reunite

This was actually the first image I did for this story. I just had a very clear image what Ceniro and Erk would look like in this scene, and what their surroundings would look like. I even tried perspective. This is still a big deal for me, even after all these years. Ceniro looks really good, and Erk is not unrecognizable, I think. The random lords and ladies in the back are random. Yay!

Someday I’ll colour all the images to go in this story. But not now. I have complete awe for those people who manage to churn out multiple gorgeous colour pages a week with seemingly little effort. This isn’t a webcomic, don’t get me wrong. (Though it will end up as a playable FE7 fanmade RPG if I get my hands on enough time to mess around with that Sphere stuff, and it might be awesome as a webcomic in my opinion) But these random pictures would be so much better in colour. Oh well. I guess I’d better get a tablet.

As for the story itself, this is my account of what happened to my tactician during the gap between the two halves of the game. And it gives me a chance to hang out with Pent, who is super cool. And Louise. Together they probably make the best married couple in videogame history. What do you think? Anyway, this plot is all highly original and I’m very proud of the first half. This chapter probably seems a bit long. But I was enjoying myself. I did a lot of research into FE6 to find suitable villains and minor characters from Etruria to round out this story. I mean, there’s not a lot on Etruria in FE7! So I scraped together what I could. There’ll even be some cameos from vaguely important people besides Douglas. Huzzah!

Oh, and ROFL. Epic win for Hallowe’en. Epic win, ma’am.

Speaking of which, I need buttons.

zelaavsketchiconI decided to draw this picture for the sole reason that Pent and Louise from Fire Emblem 7 make a very good looking couple, and are obviously completely devoted to each other. I’d guess that Pent is about 30, and Louise is maybe 25 (so that means according to my reckoning, they’ve been married about 11 years). Anyway, celeb gossip aside (Pent is the Mage General of Etruria) I used both sprites and official artwork for reference, and that didn’t help me with Louise because the only artwork I could find was a tiny little image about 150 by 300 pixels or so. So, her clothing and especially hair are not nearly as good as they could be, and I tried several times. Pent came out pretty good first try. I’m fascinated by the fact that his son, Klein, looks EXACTLY like him except with shorter, blonde hair.

Take a look:
Klein:

Klein is an archer, like his mother

Pent (and Louise):

The Klein sprite is from Fire Emblem Planet, way back when, and the Pent and Louise sprites are from a compiled sprite image from a website called The Spriter’s Resource. Hooray for resources.

EDIT: I seem to have lost the Fire Emblem Planet Klein picture, so this one is from Fire Emblem Blog.

One of my new resources is my Student ID card. The photo’s not as terrible looking as I thought it was.

Without video games to resort to, my brother is an irritable pest today.

My room is a pretty colour. Huzzah.
