wilflorinaiconYay! Another page of Weak Arm, Strong Heart! I really, really like Marth’s face in frame 4. The rest is not the greatest, but it’s okay. And it’s fighting, too. I find it hard to do fight scenes. Good thing with SSBM as the source I can use their predeveloped arsenal of moves. Although I’m not sure what Sheeda’s doing. I guess it’s easier to do cool lady-spearfighter moves than even sword fighting. Maybe. I’m not sure. And she looks retarded in the second to last panel. Ow, they’re taking a lot of damage. Will they be defeated???

Oh, yeah, text. Um, in panel 4, Marth is saying:

Oog… This is going to be hard. Er.
Then in the last frame, Roy is saying:
Come on, Marth…
And Link and Zelda are saying:
Marth, Marth, Shee-da! Marth, Marth, Shee-da!
Wow, yesterday was cool. I talked to Michael pianist about modern music, and he sounds exactly like my last piano teacher.
Michael: You’re starting to like it.
Me: But I don’t wanna like it!
Michael: (laughing) Yeah, but you are!
Or something like that.

Then I did my theory exams, and David Clenman said I got 39 out of 40 on the easy and timed part, and that I scored very high on the other parts and that he’s impressed. I only took an hour to do each one, so for two hours I read my history book. It reminds me of The Day the Universe Changed, which I now recall I should talk about as well. Anyway, and I bought a muffin and it rather crumbled all over me. I was wearing my sports shirt because I brought all but one of my books to school, but it wasn’t as heavy as last week. I’m getting strong fast or something, I think.

Then I had a very interesting conversation with Michael violist, and we talked about high school and music and stuff, and he recommended I try reading Evelyn Waugh. So I took his advice and before I went home I went and borrowed Decline and Fall from the library. Poor fellow, he’s gotten sick and his arm hurt from trying out Brahms. But, he also got a haircut, which he’s been trying to do for a while!

The Day the Universe Changed is a fascinating 10 one-hour episode TV series by James Burke, an English reporter, I think. Some of his points made in the first episode are dated, or proved wrong with time (it’s an old series) but the rest of it is brilliant. The premise is that when what we knew about the universe changed, for us, the universe did change. It’s not widely available on DVD yet, and our taped version is getting old too, but it’s viewable on YouTube! Go watch it and expand your mind with cool stuff!

woodelvesiconI’m baaaaaaack!

I had a great time in Calgary, meeting lots of nice people, three from last year, not including teachers. I played Simon Preston’s Alleluyas for Simon, and he seemed to like it. Those lots of nice people – there were only 14, not like last year, which was 18 – were three Korean girls, incluing Kwiho from last year, and a Japanese girl, Yu, and a bunch of Americans – so not quite as exotic as last year, but that’s okay. Three of the Americans are studying at Westminster (Canada) and one of them was here the year before I went the first time. Although they said this is the first year a Japanese student has come. Yu has beautiful handwriting. There were three Canadians – Mark, studying at Queen’s, Kingston, and Gwen and me. Mark’s a really great guy, and plays well, too. I think I was a lot less shy than last year because I talked to everyone without really… being shy. Last year it took a lot of courage to say ‘hi’ to Winand. This year was a much more fulfilling experience in that respect. I got to play on some horrible organs and some fantastic organs. If you go, and you’re scheduled to practice on the U of C practice organ, BEWARE. It has two working stops at this time. 8′ Swell flute and 16′ pedal reed. Ugh.

I tried to play the Zelda Wind Waker-style theme on the Theremin at the museum. Better than last year’s Fire Emblem, but not great still. I’m talking about the tune played while sailing on the Great Sea, where the notes go down to a IV chord after the run from I to V. If you know what I mean, which you probably don’t. Go see the Hylia and listen to the piece.

I also found a musical Wii at the museum, and played the beginning of my Bach on the theatre organ.

And I met a lady from Victoria on my flight back. Maybe I’ll see her around.

Now Cesar told me about something that I should join, but I can’t get on because it wants my university e-mail which I don’t have yet.

The rowan tree next door has red berries now.

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since last camp. I had my digital camera, and I had just discovered Tsubasa… I found out that Yu is a BIG CLAMP fan. She almost screamed when I showed her my cell-phone screen, which has a background of Fai and Syaoran, just to say: here are some wierd people. I wasn’t actually expecting her to know (and love) them. Yay.

firetempleavatarOoh, and Marth returns in glory! As you can see, only about half the Smashers are pleased with that. And the kid is just some random announcer guy. He’s not the guy who talks during the game, he’s a different guy. The guy who says stuff like “Success!” and “Failure…” is a grown-up.

The text reads:
Sheeda: And when we come back, I’ll help you trounce your ill-wishers with a Brave Lance. If they can’t appreciate you, they don’t deserve to know you.
Two months later…
Announcer-kid: And now, ladies and gentlemen, we have, returning from his vacation in his homeland of Altea, PRINCE MARTH! Accompanied by his fiancé… PRINCESS SHEEDA OF TALIS!!!

A Brave Lance is a super Fire Emblem lance that attacks twice, no matter how slow the wielder is. Quickies can attack four times with it!

If you can’t read the Princess Sheeda of Talis part in the picture then my handprinting is pretty bad.

I had so much trouble with Yoshi. Urgh. Link is cute. And Zelda is pretty. And Ganondorf is sticking his tongue out like an infant.

Today was exciting… I finally finished disc three, with the special features, and I burned it, and we watched Spirited Away again, and I got my next minis ready for primer, and I finished Tuor a couple of days ago but I forgot to mention it… He looks utterly fabulous… although not as perfect as he and I could have wished… and I found out that my little Sculpey Rana, whose ponytail broke off the other day, got more broken when Dad fixed her… It’s not a case of misplaced trust or anything, it’s just that I know her better than anyone else and I would have been able to fix her… I just thought that Dad would do it better than me. So her neck has a crack and her precious, pretty ear has a crack… It’s been reglued, but it’s obvious to me… I cried for an hour… But she looks so happy and beautiful that I’d rather not attempt to ‘fix’ her even more, since I’ll wind up with an even bigger crack next time, I know it. I’m a perfectionist, what can I say. Besides rrrrrrrrr. And wah. Anyhow, no one’s leaving the display case again, and if an earthquake happens or something I’ll be really mad because then my poor precious Rana will be shattered into dust. Neh?

I did make a little conversion to one of my new bolt thrower guys – I repositioned his arm so he’s hefting the bolt on his shoulder. It looks good, I think.

I think Dad’s concerned for my mental health… my habit of making my dream worlds real because the real one is just so dull and ugly and noisy (I hate humanity). It feels nice to be concerned for… but I don’t think it’s a chronic problem just yet. I just have to go on a walk and punish my stupid fat body into releasing endorphins or something. Endorphins are the things that make you feel good when excercising, aren’t they? Just checking.

marthmovesiconWhoa! That mysterious voice at the end of page 3 was Sheeda?!? How did she get there so quickly? Teleportation, I guess. Now poor old Marth really loses it. And that’s a looooooooooooooooooot of text. I’ll fix it in the colour version.

Thursday I took Kevin up Mount Douglas, and I was super tired, and Kevin had lots of energy until we were at the bottom again and then we were both tired. And I slipped and got covered in dust and cut my hand. So much for ‘sparrow-girl’.

wilflorinaiconOkay, I have nooooo idea what Ellis looks like. Anyone, reference pictures? Please?

The art is almost as bad as page one. Redraw! …Later.

And yeah, I did the Legendary Pokemon Event Match with Marth without getting KO’d once. Veeeeery difficult, and I had to restart several times. Darn Jigglypuff. This was during another depressed period, and I was determined to beat that difficult level before Kevin did, or else!

I’m terrible at hands and phones and things. And why does Ellis have a phone? Why is Sheeda in Castle Altea? Oooh, plot-holes! For another matter, what is Super Smash Bros. Melee?
I wrote a story about it wondering that very question, and my result was a bit odd, but I don’t think of it as canon or anything because Rana is in it. And it petered out at about Chapter 3. Anyway, this is ‘more canon’, because there are no original characters, and hardly any backstory, but it’s still just a random story about depression and revival. Oops! Shouldn’t have said that!

Last composition lesson today, and I don’t know whether to make Quartet Movement III into a sonata, my original idea, or just leave the expo as it is and forget the other two sections and call it through-composed. Meh.
