Kevin: I painted these bowmen about a month before this picture was taken, and they were my very first miniatures that I painted. These are bowmen models from the last edition of brettonians, the one where they had lance formations that were tri-angular, rather the rectangular. The picture on the box had the blue and yellow cholour scheme, and I thought all brettonians were painted that way. foolish me. There is some slight highlighting, but no drybrushing, and I don’t think I did any washes to the models either. The yellow on the sleeves is too thin with some of the models as well. Still, overall they are very good for first models, and my teacher (Dad) says that they are better painted then his models when he was my age.
The other day, Jennifer and I were watching Return of the King, and at the point where Grond is smashing the gateway of Minas Tirith we began saying stuff like “kill the Trolls! Shoot the Trolls! Aim for the trolls!”, and after a little while we began to say things like, “We Abhor Trolls! We Hate Trolls! We abominate trolls!” eventually we thought of “Fail the Trolls!” which conjured different images between me and Jennifer. Jennifer thought of this little troll running home and saying really happily and excitedly, “Mummy, Mummy! I failed!” and the mother saying, “Well done son! you did it!”. My version was of a little troll sitting at a little desk (little for him) holding a little pencil, looking at a little piece of paper and thinking “I just don’t understand…” that was a pretty funny thought.
Anyway, just to wrap things up, I’d like to tell everyone who hasn’t already guessed, I’m Jennifer’s brother. Once and a while I’ll put up a post, just because I think that some of my artwork is worth putting up (jennifer has to think so too, bleh). you may see some knights coming up soon too!
(sigh) Now, this is really cool, because it’s totally different, but unfortunately my little brother reminded me I said I would put his up first – reminded me in the most annoying terms. He’s also messing around with wire, and has fashioned a small wire dagger with which he is poking everything in the vicinity – me, the bookshelves, the CDs, blah blah blah.
I also updated all the sidebar links – all 150 of them, approximately, and I reconfigured the miniatures gallery, ready for filling. I was having trouble with that. Which one should the sidebar be linked to? All fixed now! However, all of my brother’s stuff – Warhammer, writing, the occasional pencil picture – is going in his own gallery, so you won’t see it subcategorized under ‘pencil’ or March 2007. You’ll only see it in his gallery, which can be reached by clicking on Category at the top of the page and then finding his niche. All clear? Good!
I tried more hair colouring yesterday, and it turned out so well that I finished CGing a whole picture of Zela. Wow. Sadly, I used one with wonky anatomy, so… well, you’ll see it when you see it. Practice makes perfect, as they say.
Wah! Three pages of pretty comics! Golden, True Magic (“I love you guys”) and Undertow have all updated! Actually, I liked Undertow’s Ch4 pg3 even better – Teyn has his cute face on. And through Golden, I learned of the existance of a new animal: the binturong!
And I also learned that my brother saw the final episode of the third season of Dragon Booster and that Parm has a gauntlet and no medallion (he better find his courage first, heh heh) and that there is as of yet no funding for the next series: Dragon Booster: Academy.
In the Tsubasa manga, Volume 2 has the correct form of a sentance that bothered me in the anime translation. Probably done by a fan with a less-than-perfect grasp of the intricacies of contractions. Anyway, the anime subs said “I could care less if I’m hurt” (this is Syaoran speaking, of course). However, this implies that he cares if he gets hurt, since he could care less! Not-Syaoran-ish! The correct form of this sentence would be “I couldn’t care less if I’m hurt”. The manga says: “I don’t care where I’m hurt” which makes so much more sense.
