Here are two presents which I painted for other people! There are three more presents waiting to be given, so you won’t get to see them until next week. : D

First! For Aja of True Magic the webcomic, Gauth Schönen!

Appropriately enough, I was in the middle of my Tsubasa binge, so I decided to make him as over-the-top Japanese-y pretty bishie as I could. Which is not very much, but it’s more than usual. I also tried out a new technique – using the regular brush on partial opacity. Other people use this to great effect and I’d like to get better at it. I actually really like this picture. : )

Second, for Aywren and Syntyche of Wayrift webcomic, Aur, from Dreigiau! In three versions!

1 – regular colour, from the pencil sketch (but redoing the arm to be more dynamic ; )

2 – experimenting with shadow and highlight layers set on ‘soft light’, which looked cool on their own

3 – and the final, in which I stole a picture of a lion off the internet (actually, from a page with a really cute story)

Eheheh… I kinda went all out. Except the background is a little whatever. Anyway. Aur is my favourite character, I think.  ^_^7 I was meaning to colour this for a while, but didn’t get the time until recently.

Me? What was I given?

Well, I now have a framed and autographed (pretty sure!) picture of Andy Schleck. (so sexyyyyyy… <3 ) And a discarded SaxoBank foodbag from the Tourmalet this year. (which stage I still have not watched… that’s the stage Ryder came in 4th, isn’t it?) Luuuuvvvvvvvv…

I was also given Don Quixote and Dante’s Divine Comedy, and a music psychology book, and a camera, and a LBS (La Bottine Souriante) CD, among other things… presents we are going to share include the COMPLETE Jeremy Brett=Sherlock Holmes series, including the movies, and The Day the Universe Changed on DVD, and Fantasia/2000. I think we have enough books and movies and games to last a while. Oh, and a fabulous organ CD that opens with a Langlais piece that just makes me glee with power and excitement.  : D

But I’m going back to bed because I was hired at the last minute to play for a midnight service at a church, so I’m still beat.

Merry Christmas and custard.

Okay, the title is just an excuse for being really cheesy. I like cheesy sometimes.

It’s AUR!! I have tried to draw him before, but he never came out… There are other attempts which are so bad they are not touching my computer let alone the interwebs. But this one is actually kind of recognizable, sort of. (I think part of it is that his new character art makes him look more ‘shaggy’ and less ‘mullet-y’. lol!) I wanted to try really getting detailed with costume design, too, because you know how my characters all wear 1) tunic 2) pants 3) boots 4) belt – and that’s pretty much all they need. Except Ceniro, because he is a little more realistic. (I don’t think Ceniro has underwear anymore, though. X D Tmi?) Anyway, and except Esgalwen, because she wears a dress. Anyway anyway, so that’s why you don’t recognize what Aur is wearing. Because I went crazy.

Colour will be coming on this one soon! He deserves it.

I drew this because I read through Darkstar again (fantastic story – I cry every time KluYa shows up and says goodbye  ) and I was thinking really hard about the voices – Ben’s ‘deep warm golden’ voice, Kip’s ‘now, now…’ Cecil’s heroic tenor, Kain’s deep snarky voice, Edge’s irritable baritone, the huge differences between Pren/Joran/Rosa/Rydia, and… Chase. He’s just a little kid. But if you look between the cracks, he’s recovering more and more subconscious awareness of who he used to be (AAAUUUUURRRR :D ) or else the author uses him to fill plot holes – JUST KIDDING, AYWREN! Anyway, so I am a big ChAur fan and any excuse is good enough to try and draw him. He’s a lion-bishie! X D

German homework to do now. Guten Tag.

Aur scribble

I felt like posting something! The only thing I have left to do today is practice (and study Latin and play Guild Wars – Kessex Peak is still waiting!) so I decided to put SOMETHING UP. Especially since I’m bored and I’ve been listening to Kalmaeirin playlists on my iTunes for the last two hours while I wrote my Linguistics paper for this week.

Soooo… this is the first picture I drew with Corel Painter, with the pencil tool and my glorious tablet, and it is of Aur from Dreigiau. It’s not very good, so I didn’t send it to Aywren. I mean, it’s better than the last picture of Aur I drew. But still not really good enough. Though I think it’s decent enough to be posted. The scribble of Link I did a few weeks ago, though… X P That will not be posted. Ugh.

I think I gave Aur too much eyelashes.

Cheers!

Aur the SOLDIER

... ... ... What?

... ... ... What?

Aur the SOLDIER (sorta)

Dec 18, ’09

(588)

Um. Aur, of Dreigiau/Shimmer/Darkstar/Wayrift fame (though for the last two he’s called Chase), as a SOLDIER from Final Fantasy VII. I know Aywren doesn’t particularly care for FFVII, as she’s one of those who thinks the last great FF game was VI. But my brother loves FFVII: Crisis Core, and wanted to play a game based on it. So I was the player, he was the gamemaster, and I randomly picked to play as Aur because I think Aur is cool and it meant I didn’t have to think up a brand new person and I didn’t have to play as one of my pre-existing characters, which would have made him groan in exasperation. And while we were playing I drew a picture.

Aur the SOLDIER was a young, taciturn, 3rd-class SOLDIER in training for Shin-Ra. After stopping a traitor Turk from sabotaging a reactor, he went to Wutai in a helicopter to investigate who was behind the traitor.

He never made it. Shot down by hidden guns in the middle of nowhere, his grunt soldiers all killed in the crash, he approached a small cottage only to find it was a hidden stronghold of the enemy. He is about to venture down to the lower levels of this secret military research facility…

The funniest part would be this exchange.

Aur’s Phone: *ring ring*

Aur: Aur here.

Aur’s Overseer: So you’ve captured the traitor? Good. Bring him back to Dennis, the 1st-class SOLDIER in your area.

Aur: Understood. *hangs up*

Aur’s Phone: *ring ring*

Aur’s Overseer: Don’t ever hang up on me before I’m done again. And talk to Dennis for further instructions.

Aur: … |: (

Last night I dreeeeaaaaaamed… that I saw winged cats in the kitchen. They were cute.

There was also a bit wherin I was registranting for Organist again – except that his music was something like one line (three staves still, of course) with whole notes and half notes and quarter notes in large print. … Anyway, he played it successfully : P and then we sang the Kyrie from Mozart’s Requiem and there was suddenly a large choir with us.

Then I went outside and there was someone playing flute so I took off my coat and my (organ! : O ) shoes and danced in the rain until I fell down and hurt myself. Then Organist came back and we talked about Liszt.

This was all in the dream. No kidding. If Organist had really been around here we would probably have sung Duruflé’s Kyrie. Either of them. Both of them. Whatever.

Organ crawl today! …I WAS going to say something else but I forgot it. Well, I could tell you that it’s pretty cool to listen to your own playing through a microphone. And I’ve started memorizing the Franck. And Flairé and Kellan adventured muchly in Guild Wars last night instead of doing Latin/French homework (respectively).

Oh well. Latin homework is easy.

Oh! I remember! I am planning to put up a couple screenshots from Guild Wars soon. This evening, perhaps.
