esgalwenavatarUm… when I get to Picture #150, I’m going to quit putting the “Newest in Category” button. It’s too much work.

One quick picture today. Link and Legolas, because I still think they’re very similar. Legolas came out badly so I didn’t finish him. So this goes in the Zelda category because there’s just more of Link. I also rather like their expressions. Kind of challenging, really… or maybe just blank. Yeah. I like Link’s face in this one a lot.

I tried out a new modelling putty today. We’ll see if it works. I’m also varnishing the base for my wooden chickadee model finally.

Gwen came over. We have much to talk about, especially Biology. She says her Physics 11 course had so many typos it was stupid. We also played duets.

Snowing petals! More tomorrow, when I get my camera phone down here. Blah. Maybe it’s actually a phone camera. I don’t know.

Mozart symphonies are great! Makes me wonder why I love orchestral music written by Japanese people so much – Joe Hisaishi, Tsubasa’s soundtrack, Zelda’s soundtrack… etc.

Aww… in True Magic – poor Gauthicus! (pats head) Don’t worry, that Kiku’s just joking… but I would like to know the behind story…

I should do my Bob fanart.

marthmovesiconThis is a quick doodle of Legolas with that pretty quiver they gave him in the movie.

The colour version of “Golden-haired Elf” was finished on Aug 8, ’05, so we have about a year’s worth of pictures to go through first. I beg your patience… I guess I have to check when my other CGs were finished, so I don’t accidentally skip one. Yes, I did something other than pencil, occasionally. You should see evidence of that very soon… very soon, preciousss… Okay, I don’t know where that came from. The first evidence of variation here will come when I get to Nov 6, ’04. I’m making notes here so that I don’t forget so easily.

(more about picture) And yes, I realize that his head couldn’t crank around like that in real life. Uh… (fidgets) He might want to get some more arrows, though. Too bad they’re not just found randomly in jars and under rocks… and in long grass… and in moblin bodies… Eheh…

I finished preparing the script for about a quarter of my Ceniro movie. They almost made it outside the house where they start!

esgalwenavatarHmm. This picture is based on a picture I’d done the day before of Link, which I didn’t put up here because my scanner/printer decided to die a more violent death than usual and now won’t even print things. Before, it would only scan if the screen-saver hadn’t been on yet, and now it won’t print either. Still, I think I have more than enough pictures to keep going for a couple of months, at least. If the worst comes to the worst, I’ll take digital pictures of them like the whiteboard portrait. Why, oh why does technology have to fail me when I’m doing something cool?

Anyhow, I’m off topic. The topic is… profiling! The picture I did of Link was a profile with his hat off and I experimented with face shading. It didn’t turn out, and the top of his head was flat, just like Legolas here, so maybe it’s a good thing that I couldn’t put it up. Anyhow, this picture is not too bad, except I only figured out how to draw the insides of ears a few months ago so his ear is still a blank hole. I noticed that Orlando Bloom has dark eyebrows, which means Legolas-in-the-movie has dark eyebrows, which is actually kinda cool. Not bad for a scribble.

Last night I had a concert, at which I played my sonata much too fast, but I’m looking forward to the next one – I will be more relaxed and in control, and able to make music instead of panic. I also got to talk to the girl who accompanied me for my violin exam, and she’s so nice, I just babbled about any old thing. I think, being the kind of person I am, I conduct too many self-analyses, which means I can talk about myself a lot… but that’s rude.
Flairé: Isn’t this part of a self-analysis?
Uh… yeah.

Second page of Chibiness has been started! So far, I’ve only drawn frame one, which is… me. But, I have the first gag planned out, which should take the rest of the page or something. I think I should script it first, though… it always goes better for some reason.

I need to make more rice krispies squares.

Oh, yes, and I was going to make a Sophia-from-Last-Exile plushie, but I thought that might be too hard to start with, so I decided to make a doll costume instead, and I have a red-headed Barbie, so I got her out for the first time in about six years, and discovered that her hair is way too long, she has too much of it, and some of it has a perm from being in a braid. Dad says make a Sculpey clay statue. Good idea.

flaireavatarYesterday I went to the local Games Workshop and built a pile of elven rocks with a waterfall on it. Nifty, but I’ll make the next one on my own when I don’t have time constraints. It’ll turn out even better!

Here are all my heroes (people whom I admired) for 2003. They are-! Legolas, Link, Trent, Wedge, Flairé, and Sain. They are sitting on my couch in my living room, with personable equipment. Legolas and Link are, obviously, looking at the Master Sword. Trent is sitting quietly with his violin. I think he came out quite well. I’m not good at drawing ‘real people’. He’s very good as both a violinist and a fiddler, and when I hear him play in one style, I feel like he should focus on that style… until I hear him play in the other style. He played this beautiful Dvorak piece at the local music Festival once, and I just loved it. Wedge is reading one of my X-Wing series books, and he didn’t come out so well. Sain is posing, because he’s a goofball. Actually, he looks sort of like Oswin here.

Flairé is playing a (stringless) harp, and now he’s officially introduced, I suppose.
Flairé: Hi. Good to meet you people.
I’ll add a biography page sometime very soon, I think.
Flairé: That’s a good idea. No one knows me yet, and I’m your best friend!
Eheheh. Go away.
Flairé: Righto. … Why am I so short in that picture?
Shoo!
Flairé: I’m going! Bye!

He talks too much, but he’s nice. I use him in all my (adapted rules) Dungeons and Dragons games.

These people were drawn over a period of time. Legolas was drawn first, in November, and Link took from November to December. The others are labelled, so Sain was drawn on the 13th of December, Trent on the 16th and 17th, and Wedge and Flairé on the 17th.

Today is Tolkien’s birthday! Rejoice and be glad, for he is 115 years old today! (cheers)

I read a summary of Last Exile (some Japanese thing) and it looks intresting! Two young pilots who have to save a mysterious girl from sinister people? I think that’s right up my alley. Leslie offered to lend me her DVD, I think. Now I know what it’s about, I think I’ll take her up on that.

I’ve been rearranging my MD’s, and so far, I have two (from before) with classical music – one with almost the entire Marriage of Figaro on it! – and the other with Mozart’s Requiem and Smetana’s Ma Vlast and the Mozart Divertimento that we did at CYMC a few years ago. Insanely fun. I now have one with all four disks of Enya that we own, sans a couple songs I don’t like so the ones I do fit on the MD, and one of Fire in the Kitchen, Norouet’s Spirale, and Leahy. That one’s fiddle music, in case you couldn’t guess. But, for some reason, that one used to have five disks worth of music – three Natalie MacMaster CDs instead of the Leahy, and now it only fits two and a half! What’s going on?

Oh, and Mom and Dad got cell phones for Christmas and they gave me a third because their old cell phones were too old by now. I can take pictures, movies, and listen to music. I think it’s specially set up to be more of an MP3 phone than a camera phone.

Edit: The kalma above in the picture could actually be Flair.

untitleddanceravatarLast picture for Middle Earth for a while! First picture of the new year! Huzzah!

Huzzah has a lot of meanings for me, but more on that later.

This picture is of Legolas, stepping out onto the bank of Anduin to shoot the mysterious and sinister black shape in the air. The Big Dipper, or Calacirca, is over his head. Frodo sees “the dark head of the elf crowned with stars”… It was so beautiful I tried to do a picture of it, and it worked pretty well, but I never finished it. I may do a CG Photoshop version sometime. That would look really nice. Or maybe I’ll use my new markers!

Huzzah means, for me, three things off the top of my head.
1) The cheer that the sailors give “Captain Pullings” at the end of Master and Commander.
2) Lucia: “Long life and health to his majesty! Huzzah!”
Janaff: “…You don’t really have to be so formal.”
That’s a quote from Fire Emblem 9, when two knights from different countries meet and one is also a noblewoman, and as such, gives polite praise of the other’s king. The other one is much more laid back and even clownish.
3) Huzzah! is a goofy story about Fire Emblem 7. Not as good/funny as Tally Ho, by the same author, which just focuses on Canas the student of elder magic. Who has no common sense. ^_^7 He’s adorable.

I realize that that sentence beginning with ‘who’ is a sentance fragment, but it makes a ‘statement’.

I’ve also added a disclaimer/about section to the writing section.

Oh, yes, and I ate myself sick for New Year’s. We also played another game of my brother’s present Settlers of Catan, a board game which is rather amusing, especially when Mom asks for the ‘longest road’ card from Dad and he gives her the identically shaped ‘building price’ card. I went hysterical.
