Flairé: Miss Leslie? Did you find your room all right? (sniffs the air) ! Leslie?!

(sees note on the floor): The little human is ours. You can do nothing to help her, Nieron Flairé. Bow to our wishes!

Oh, hey, it’s another page. And now I have to get ready to go.

I like drawing Flairé. I only wish his castle matched up to him. Oh well. If you’re wondering that is a hallway that has bedrooms and such off of it. Except you can’t see the doors because… the walls have pillars sticking out of them. That you can’t tell. Yessss. : P

By the way I did get a spam in English the other day. So the previous comment is vindicated or something.

I am solar powered! I must be, because the last couple of days have been beautiful! And suddenly I feel like doing things! Practicing, playing Guild Wars, cleaning up, drawing, running - I went for a run yesterday!

Flairé: Yes, I’m very proud of you. (pats head)

Yay! So now it’s kind of misty out today-

Flairé: Great West Coast weather. My fave!

-but after we get back from the Via Choralis concert in Sidney I am going for another run.

Last night’s Baroque concert was just great. They performed (among other fantastic things) The Schoolmaster by Telemann, and had a very cute guy singing the lead role. There were four girls in the children’s chorus who were playing the smitten students. It was adorable. Also people should play Baroque oboe more often. It’s lovely!

The organ concert on Thursday was good too, but I liked the Buxtehude better than the Bach selections. They seemed maybe less structured and heavy and more emotionally charged. Maybe that’s just me.

Stay tuned for recital poster - coming soon!

            30 seconds later:

Flaria: Oh! A person. How old is she? Does she like music? Where did you get the dress?

Flairé: Her name is Leslie, she’s 19, and she plays music everyday. We got the dress at Avumal’s place. Miss Leslie, this is my over-excitable sister Flaria.

Flaria: *eyeroll* Hello, Leslie! I’m very pleased to meet you. What do you like to eat?

             Leslie: What is there?

Hi! I need to go do stuff, so here is the finished ink of the page. No colour; that will come later.

AAAAAHHHHH IT’S A FEMALE FLAIRÉ just kidding.

Oh, yes. As soon as Flaria meets the new girl her thought is only hyper curiousity and whether she’s hungry.

This room needs a little more colour. The next time you see it, it will have some red drape-y things. Almost wasn’t going light the candles, but then I figured that it would only be natural. And I’m running out of yellow marker! : ( I will try and fix that for next week but I make no guarantees.

Oh and I don’t think the “switching back and forth” in the first frame was too successful. I will do better next time. I also forgot Flairé’s sword in the second panel. He just took it off really really fast? Those kalmaei are fast, you know.

Successfully played two churches this morning. Not bad. Played the 3rd mvmt of Bédard’s Quatre Pieces en forme du Messe and the Menuet Gothique by Boellmann.

Okay I have rehearsal and lots of practice, so here I go.

gilwatam1lilies

Okay, folks, it’s that time of something again when I dump a whole bunch of pretty pictures I didn’t really make on you. : P First is Tam at that lovely lovely waterlily pool in the southwestern Catacombs - by the devourers on the inside, and vaguely near Orion on the outside. So pretty! Tam is my Elementalist character who is part warrior - hence the sword and shield outfit. But I really meant to make him half Paragon so he could use a spear to effect. Meh. Perhaps that will change. But the blue hair stays. X D

Just to make clear, this picture is from underground (with a cracked ceiling, admittedly).

gilwatam2kellan

Tam and my brother’s main, Kellan Dunns, goofing around in the back of the mountains.

gilwaflaire11

One of Flairé’s new coats, with a nice red dye job. Yay! New gloves, too. Scaley.

gilwagullac1

Say hello to one of my other alts, Gullac. This character has been deleted until I unlock the Assassin class so he can use daggers. He’s a Necromancer as a first class, though, because it has more appropriate hair. And posture. And faces. Though his hair could be a shade darker.

gilwatam3sword

Tam, dynamically using that sword of his. He won. Even though he was fighting four bandits and a wolf.

gilwabearorion

This picture is because I’m an Orion fangirl because there’s a bear’s face on the back of the bear!!! 8 O

Do you see it? Do you see it?

gilwatam4excata

Tam, standing in that particular spot in Green Hills County where you can look into the Catacombs. I find that so very very cool, because if you go into the Catacombs and stand on that bridge, you can look back out. Whee! Oh, and it’s pretty, too.

gilwasnowman

A melted snowman near the forges in Lion’s Arch. With one of Flairé’s footprints.

gilwagullac2

Gullac, sittin’ on the stairs… in the Catacombs… bein’ an emo little boy…

Gullac should not be emo. o_O7

gilwagullac3

This looks cute somehow. (the /stand animation)

gilwazela2adriano

Zela (helmet on : P) and Adriano (my brother’s alt) goofing off while waiting for Orion to head up to Foible’s Fair to see his girlfriend Ralena. I’m playing violin, he’s playing… guitar. Neither very well. : P

gilwaflaire12drunk

Flairé gave in to the pestering of his friend Kellan 8 O and had a few eggnogs in Ascalon. Obviously Kellan is still in the giddy stages while Flairé is already feeling the effects. Heh. …Why is normal eggnog alcoholic?

gilwaadriano1

Showing Adriano the Wise’s true height (short). He’s based off a gnomish monk character for a verbal roleplay we did once and his most popular spell was Blind (”The guy taps you on the shoulder.” “Adriano casts Blind!!” “… For the fifteenth time?” “Yes!!!”)

What is little known is that he goes bald underwater… true story. In Guild Wars, I mean.

gilwaflaire13

Flairé’s current new coat (in a fetching shade of green where possible), as he is blowing up bad guys on one of those far west Krytan story missions in the moonlight. No tubas, though. Oh, and I got his leather pants dyed blue. I think they look nice. I also removed his creepy hunter mask to see what his mouth looked like while talking in cutscenes. …It’s okay, I guess. I dunno. I’ll have to see more.

Organ crawl was great, today. I learned all about the digital side of the organ, which was a complete mystery to me before. You should all come to the RCCO convention in July!!! It’ll be a party!!! …Actually the convention itself is rather expensive. Come to the concerts. Unless you’re an organist. : )

Merry Christmas 2009!

Whoa! Lots of pictures today, folks! Hold on!

First, a very Merry Christmas (or whatever you happen to celebrate) from all of us here at the Adhemlenei. People in this picture: Marteth, Bayn, Gyoriing, Lyrestan; Mathaning, Gullac, Zela, Flaer, Yoeath; Flaria, Jalril, Flairé, Tam, Rana; Ceniro, Leslie, Jennifer, Esgalwen. Quite a number! Didn’t have room to fit in Silver, but we all know she wishes you a Merry Christmas too. Yes? Yes.

Jalril is just embarrassed at standing next to a girl. Who’s dating his brother. She thinks he’s funny. And cute. Tam is a cloooooowwwwn. X D Flairé is wearing his princely-type tunic which you haven’t seen before! It’s red.

Eeeeeee I’m so excited!

Below are the Christmas presents I drew for the various webcomics I read.

Hi! Have some Guild Wars screenshots. They’re not the only thing I have for you but they’re the most interesting thing I can put up. I also have some other elves and a D&D party but this is in COLOUR. And it’s 3D. …Anyway!

gilwaflaire1

Flairé and Gwen! Not sure who Gwen is, but she’s a cute little girl and I like saying hi to her. Oh, and my Stalker (cougar-ocelot?). She’s a nice beastie and I’d like to give her a name but I don’t think you can. If I did, I’d call her… Rosamond. Or Eliza. Or Silky. Or Softpaw. Though she hits pretty heavy (except on bears). A little scary to see bounding towards you sometimes. Especially in the catacombs, because her eyes glow a bit and it’s spooky down there.

gilwabunneh

What is this, UVic? Actually, it has pretty huge ears and a foxy nose…

gilwaflaire10

I love the waterfall. A pain to get up to, all that walking, and uphill, but it’s worth it. Isn’t that light gorgeous? And the great thing is, you can actually get to those far-off vistas in the game (eventually)! It’s not just background! Oh, and look, there’s Flairé and his cat! I liked the posing on the cat.

gilwaflaire2

Hiii~iii, Flairé. Nice new jacket. Skull is a bit weird, though.

gilwaflaire3

Flairé, acting grumpy. Whazza matter? Pocket has a hole in it? o.O7 At least it’s new.

gilwaflaire4

*facepalm* …Did Flairé get tired of dealing with my silliness and making him do all the emote animations?

gilwaflaire5

Practicing for formal situations involving his dad.

gilwaflaire6

“You. Yeah, you over there. Dude. What’s the matter?” …Either that, or it’s “yonder we go!” : P

gilwaflaire7

Yeah, it was “Yonder we go”. Huzzah! …Y’know, that little feather thing on the side of his head really makes me think of Zeb from Wayrift. Oh dear. He’s not like Zeb at all. But both are handsome? Yes? Maybe?

gilwaflaire8

Flairé does the funky flute dance. It suits him perfectly! Except I went and bought an actual (in-game) flute, the 4G one from the merchant in Ashdale or whatever it’s called, and it doesn’t get incorporated into the animation. Too bad.

gilwaflaire9

More flute dancing. Man, it’s as if they had Flairé in mind when they made that animation. Oh, and Flairé’s kitty companion. I hope to get a Raven someday, whenever I get to Eye of the North (apparently that’s where you get them).

gilwazela1

Zela, on the log-in screen. She came across rather well, surprisingly. Much better than Flairé, actually. But she needs some pants. : P

This is Tatamkanai, “Dancingday”, a (potentially awesome) new character for the Zela story, Tam for short. Doesn’t he look awesome? He has a scythe (in the story, a spring-loaded lance : D ) and partly dyed hair. His eyes are mismatched naturally. Already he’s fallen down on Flairé and then broken into his room by climbing three stories up a sheer castle wall to apologize. Isn’t that something an awesome person would do? Or maybe just a creepy person… But Tam is not all creepy! He’s just a loon. Kylyralessa’s infatuated. I’ve drawn a pencil picture of him, too. It will be up later this month.

Lunaii Dollmaker again.

Hi, guys! I made these… a while ago, actually, and I was going to put them up right away, but then I decided not to because I still had stuff I had drawn first. Then I got impatient and put them up today. But here they are now, and I think they’re very cute. From left to right; Flairé, Zela, Flaer, Flaria, Menad, Marteth, Bayn, Gullac, Mathaning, Ceniro, Rana, and Esgalwen. Flaria and Mathaning were saved at a smaller size in order to get the birdies in. Ceniro’s staff is a bit wimpy, though. XD

lunaii3

There you are if you want to go make your own. This dollmaker is easy and completely unfrustrating, although you can only get head and shoulders as shown here. But you can also get tails and horns and things.

The big one is from the ridiculous Candybar Dollmaker… very flashy, and a little frustrating. By the time I finished with the face, I was getting into it more. Lots of clothes that make Flairé look good, too. He looks super hot good dressed up, or dressed down! I even added his strap-on wings. One convenient feature is the ability to save a few options in a menu and quickly access them to try different looks.

Tomorrow I will post the class recital poster up here. And everywhere else, too. Exciting!

I’m exactly one day behind in NNWM. Well, I will be if I manage to write 1200 more words today. Which I can totally do. I think I can finish this chapter in 1200 more words, though I’m not sure what I’ll write about. But right now I’m going to have lunch and practice piano, then go to rehearsal, then come home and practice more piano, then write NNWM, and then go to salsa because salsa is awesome and it seems the Rueda club really wants me to come. Yay salsa.

Zela’s outfit as of Oct 30, ‘09

So, tunic same as last year (I didn’t get a chance to fit it like I was planning), same cloak, same belt… Gauntlets have been shrunk and are now much easier to use. Boots the same, black shirt/leggings the same… I added three things to the belt, though. Two pouches and a waterbottle holder. One of the pouches is my camera pouch, though, so that’s not permanent. : ) Also there’s that sword I made yesterday, and I jury-rigged the sword belt but it will be better next year, I hope. And… contacts! And hair that cooperates, sort of! And pointy ears!

Do I look like Zela yet?

Such a good concert last night, with the orchestra, and the costumes, and the Janos, and the Kira, and the other great people/things. First off, I met someone who (obviously) reads Girl Genius. They had the goggles! We complimented each other on our costumes. That was fantastic. Then I saw HAL9000 - I mean, Kira. The first half of the concert was amazing. They played Night on Bald Mountain (go brass - and percussion - and strings - and woodwinds - and harp - but mostly brass and percussion because that’s the bit in my head right now) and the brass really gave it the second time around. Then they played Dvorak’s The Noon Witch, which was very dramatic. A little hard to follow, but that’s all right. Then they played the first of Liszt’s Mephisto Waltzes and it was waltzy.

Then came intermission, and I talked to Kira and KevT and .t some more. I will see Kira on Sunday! Then the second half of the concert was a symphony thingy by Hindemith about a painter named Mathias. I’m afraid I rather zoned out after the first five minutes. Hey, it was a long day! Anyway, the first part was about angels so it was lovely. I loved the costumes. Lower brass was pirates, middle brass was witches, and upper brass was zombies. Double basses were Norse, and violas were Zorro. Two of my friends were Pinky and the Brain (woot woot you go guys) and one was Mussorgsky. There was also a surgeon, a mummy who changed into a knight, a Smurf, few random zombies, a woman with a mustache, some cats, Andy Warhol, a clown, a mime, the Empire State Building with King Kong - wait, that last was E in the audience. Never mind.

I thought a lot about Flairé during this concert, and him fighting with Sicasa, and maybe Gyoriing should get killed off at some point. I am not sure at all about this yet. I have a lot of main characters dying already. Do I need another one to? I also thought about a Ceniro costume. Maybe next year I’ll be Ceniro? (he’s so adorable, just like Kira says I am)

I need to find my needle I was sewing with the day before yesterday. I was so happy to be done the buttonhole I don’t know what I did with it. Pickles.

Flairé: Words of wisdom for today: The world is beautiful both in macro and micro. But while you can’t enjoy every single leaf and blade of grass, you should still get out and enjoy a few dozen every day. Try it! It’s like meditating, but more interesting. And you can’t climb a mountain everyday, but you should look at one and imagine what it would be like at the top.

Flairé: Also, Why Is Music Important? asks a poster in her music building. I say, because music is, among other things, pure condensed joy. (wanders away playing flute and singing)

NaNoWriMo starts tomorrow!??!?! Ohmigosh, I’m joining this year! But I almost missed it! Can I write the first book or two of Zela’s story in time for Nov 30? It will probably come out horribly, but as NNWM says, the point is not to write a masterpiece but to get words on a page. So that is what I will do. And hopefully some stuff I can keep, scenes, dialogue, plot twists, and at least something of the themes will come out. And writing is something that interests me, although I’m still horrible at it and I can tell - though I still don’t know how to fix it. And yes, I will put it up here when I’m done. Meh. But first I will put up the rest of Ceniro’s story. At least the part I have written. I will do Eliwood/Hector’s chapters some other time.

I have a brief outline of the first book of Zela’s story. 14 chapters of ten pages each will do it.

Wish me luck?

reddanceiconActually, that would be this year’s recital poster. …If I ever get around to taking it. See, it needs to be in a pine forest near sunset. Which means fall because spring never gets around to that sort of atmosphere by the time that recitals and juries are on.

My recital poster for last year was okay. It was a little last-minute, which is all my fault. But I had this specific image in mind. So I will do it this year.

posterfinalsm

The recital was okay too. But this year it will be great.

(stops staring at computers and goes to practice)

(comes back long enough to say: btw the days are getting shorter - the sun goes down at 7 and comes up at 7, and it’s getting colder because the furnace comes on in the mornings. Yikes! And it seems to be getting to the time when I dump all my notebook sketches from second year on you. Yay! (leaves again))

littleranaav Next up for the ‘08 Christmas New Pen Fanart Spree was Bob, of True Magic. Lookin’ good there, Robert. : D I think I like his hair better like this instead of the thick, almost bushy mop that he has in the comic right now. But whatever. He’s still cute. (Joe is cuter at the moment, though… despite the trim.)

I tried doing the outside lines in a thicker pen. …It worked. I’d do it a bit differently now.

I’m in a TRIO. It has clarinet, horn, and piano, and so far we’re doing a wierd piece that was published using the composer’s manuscript (so, messy messy - but he does put accidentals in places that I approve) and it sounds jazzy which is kind of cool but WHAT THE HECK I’M IN A TRIO GUYS. It’s been too long since I did chamber music with multiple people.

Volunteering at the Rueda table was kinda cool. I’ll have to do that again sometime.
