Rana, by RoseThornZero

This beautiful piece of art was drawn by Rose, who seems to be my new biggest fan, judging from how often she comments! : D We met on Wayrift, and then on DA, and this piece was part of an art commission trade there. Here is the piece I did as my half of the trade…

I really love how she captured Rana’s spunkiness. She says she enjoyed the character design, and I have to say I am amazed at the care she put into it. Also I like how she does faces, and Rana looks really pretty! In other words, it’s fabulous, yo.

Another thing you should check out is her original fantasy story! It’s very intriguing, and looks like it’s going to be really exciting. The picture I did features two characters from it (who are thus far only peripherally involved, but central plot-wise).

I do have a picture today, but I need to practice before I let myself finish it. Off I go!

P.S. This picture is much larger, but the default resize options for WordPress are a little inconvenient. Click for full-size!

Oh hey, it’s Rana. She’s my childish Hylian character! She loves acting like a little kid and doing acrobatics and giggling and also defeating evil! Bio is here!

Wind Symphony concert tonight. I met a bunch of first/second years but I don’t remember any of their names, so a lot of good that did… Anyway, they all played splendidly. The percussion section was terrific fun to watch, and I’m going to give shout-outs to all the people I know… Aaron on timpani, Rob “Robot” P (I’ve decided that should be his nickname from now on – he stands so straight when he plays!), Alexei with that terrific solo on xylophone or something and then all that other stuff that was awesome, and Taylor with that fantastic roll and other things too.

Did I mention I have socks? I have new socks. I needed them pretty badly. I went shopping for them with my friend KevinT and he bought two pairs of sneakers for a very good price (he needed ‘em too) so it was a successful day for feet in general on Thursday.

I also rented Drunken Master I today (well, yesterday now). Because I haven’t had enough Jackie Chan (after one movie) yet. Whoo!

EDIT: This morning I woke up from a crazy dream that started after I fell asleep again after reminding myself that I wouldn’t be meeting with L for a ridiculously early run. In the dream I actually did go up to the university and hung around anyway; she had an old beat-up Asian pseudo-notebook/cellphone/blackberry about the size of a large calculator and I messed around with it until she came running back to get it because she forgot it. Then I went to her apartment in cluster and Erica was lying on the couch but she had Laura’s voice, and Armand was also there for some reason. Also there was a huge herd of goats down on the first floor, and some percussionists from the concert last night and their girlfriends. (why are all the school percussionists male this year?) Anyway, then it morphed into another supermarket dream… I have those on occasion… there was Hallowe’en candy everywhere. Then I went out a different door and found myself in Comox on the main street, at the water-facing end of the mall… I turned right and went down the street, and the town was covered in cheezy Hallowe’en decorations. Like small rubber Frankenstein monsters, which were being flung all over the place by a sling mounted on a ship that was way too far inland… but I didn’t think about that. The next thing I knew I was going through a tunnel. There was a curtain over the end of it, and pale golden light was pouring through it. I stepped through the curtain and I was on a high and narrow bridge surrounded by deep green evergreen-forested valleys and golden-peaked mountains. Right ahead was a tall and massive arch, and behind it was a golden mountain. The bridge led right to it. It looked close, like a painting, like I could reach out and touch it. But I knew it was a place I could go to if I just followed the bridge. On top was something spiky, like a castle, but it was so tiny I couldn’t see what it was at all. The sun was beginning to rise behind these mountains and it made the sky also golden, and a little bit pink, and the mountains were getting more and more golden by the minute although they were white (with snow?) around the edges and their lower slopes were covered in the evergreens. It was so vivid, but it’s fading in my memory now.

I really want to go to that mountain, but the last thing before I woke up again was that the mountain was just an oddly coloured mountain-shaped terrain decoration in the Borg game that I’m playing, which I am convinced means that if I went there it would lose its magic.

On the other hand, what does Flairé think about it? Is this from the Adhemlenei? I think it isn’t, but it can’t hurt to check.

Adhemlenei Header 2

Adhemlenei Header 2

Hi! Would you like to see a big version of the new header? Of course you would. X D Click for big version!

So why these people? Why not more actual Adhemlenei characters? Well, (*pompous tone of voice*) here at Adhemlenei, we encourage diversity. So, the fact that only one character on this header comes from the Adhemlenei makes no difference. My head is full of lots of stuff!

But yeah, there’s Flairé, because he is awesome and my favourite, and then there’s Ceniro, and Rana, and Esgalwen, and my guardian angel… I’m not sure why he showed up.

Flairé: Because you think he’s hot.

Ooookay, besides that. I mean, I can draw him any time I want, but why now?

So that’s representing the kalmaei, Fire Emblem, Zelda, and Middle Earth. And me. Twice. : P

In case you didn’t see them yet, you should scroll down and check out the latest two pages of Eros and Psyche, and then go to the next page and look at Aur, because I drew an Aur that looks like Aur. (He’s from the Wayrift webcomic, which made of win.)

Like I said before, she's age 20 here.

Well, another Photoshop experiment. Not my most brilliant work, pretty sloppy, really, but it’s something new. Greyscale with a smudgy brush of this picture. Painted while listening to Love Over Gold by Dire Straits, which is after all Rana’s theme song.
You like? (I may use this technique again, hint hint.)
Heigh ho, I’ve been sleeping a lot. Last Greek and Roman class yesterday; today found out that I have two copies of the textbook because I was prepared – and then forgot about it. And the textbook has tear-out pages so I can’t resell it at the bookstore. Pickles. Well, off to SUBText! They resell stuff too. Pretty much all else I have to say is that I have a lot of junk in my room that I can’t decide what to do with. Y’know, I think I’m just going to throw it all out. Sounds good! Then I won’t have to worry about it anymore because guess what: I never look at it anyway! (marches off chanting “Down with clutter!”) 8)

Mini Sketches

Brightly coloured faces!

Brightly coloured faces!

And then there's Joe.
And then there’s Joe.

Mini Sketches
drawn between Sep 9, ’09 and Mar 1, ’10
(630)

Hi! This is a small, brightly coloured, neatly arranged sample of sketches that I accomplished at school or related to school, as these are on mini-flashcards. The blue and green ones are on Latin flashcards; the pink ones are when I decided to devote a whole pack of these to drawing – they come on a handy ring, even.

So! From the top is Flairé, asking if I’m going to put his name in Latin (Flaireus?) and then a random and really bad sketch of Fiora the pegasus knight from FE7, and then Zela, moody and broody as usual, with a list of descriptive terms on the back, which I shan’t list here as we know them already, then Rana (cover of part 2 of the Latin, with her name declined in singular), and then Tam is the cover of the random sketchies (he’s a little skinny, but I’m actually quite pleased with him!) and then a dramatic picture of Flaer (woooot luv ya buddy) and then Menad, smiling to show the dimples (a new development when I drew that) and with one of his two dogs, and then Bayn and Lyrestan to try to show the difference between them (fail), and then someone who could be Mathaning.

And then Joe the elf. Oh my.

I built my dream house in Sims3! There are no musical instruments besides the guitar, and I want to put an organ in, so I just put the biggest sound system they had and called it even. But you should see my brother’s ridiculous house. It’s… ridiculous. It’s five stories and he lives alone. The first floor and a half are all that are furnished at the moment. The bottom floor is for parties. So there’s a kitchen big enough to feed an army (appropriate, considering the guy is in the military). The cabinets cost a ridiculous amount alone. And he lives upstairs with his cheapo furniture scattered haphazardly across the unfinished space. He works one day a week as an astronaut and then paints the rest of the time.

I LOVE ORGAN in case you didn’t receive that sentiment yet. I had a lesson yesterday, and although the Duruflé sounded like crap the ending was pretty glorious crap. FULL ORGAN. Wow, I get an adrenaline rush just thinking about it. Also, the Alix Goolden organ has a working console. AWESOME.

I use too many caps.
