Sylvain Chavanel

I drew a cyclist! This one turned out much better than Ryder’s… maybe I’d better do another one of Ryder. Can’t have too much cyclist fanart, neh? Anyway, this is Sylvain Chavanel, French cyclist and cutie. Last year, he apparently cracked his head open early in the season, and recovered in time to solo to a great victory on Stage 3 (hilly, rainy, crashy) of the TdF; took yellow, and then Stage 4 lost it because the poor guy had THREE flat tires on the cobble stage. Not as bad as Franch Schleck, but still unlucky. Then less than a week later, did another terrific solo ride up a huge mountain, and took yellow again. And then lost it the next day on an even bigger mountain because he’d spent so much energy the day before. C’est la vie, I guess. But that stage – Stage 9, if I recall correctly – had Cadel taking yellow, Andy winning the stage and being in second, and Ryder in THIRD so that was probably my favourite stage, despite Chavanel losing yellow. Psyche by TalonV

Psyche by TalonV

As promised, the followup to yesterday’s picture! Talon said something like “that was fun, can I do another one?” so I said “how about Psyche?” and so she did. Again, click to fullview, because it’s gorgeous! I want everyone to note the cool way she interpreted the hairband – I sent her the cover for reference, and it does look like the hairband is attached to the earrings – even though I never saw it until she drew it! Which is totally cool and I’ll definitely be stealing that design for the actual comic.

Eros by TalonV

As another part of this sketch exchange I participated in, I requested TalonV to draw me Eros (from my webcomic), and she went above and beyond by doing a picture and then colouring it! And you really must click for full-vew because there are lots of lovely details in both of them. You can see the originals here and here.

Tune in tomorrow for the exciting sequel!

Lilahcol

Was taking a quick look at my draft for Book 1 of the Adhemlenei novels, and got the idea to do a quick picture of the Lilahcol, Flaer’s home city. This is the view from the southeast. I may have to adjust the world map, because on the world map that bend in the river is like 200 miles away or something. (I’m bad with distances.) Here it’s about 30 km, max. I think. Anyway, this is the capital city of the Lilemlen of the Adhemlenei, the Land of the Moon of the Four Kingdoms, and its surrounding villages and farmlands. Roughly.

Also I just realized that the main road actually enters the city via the other side of the city; this road is only the ‘back gate’ so to speak. It’s still a main gate, but the MAIN main gate is the other side and most of the roads go there. : P

Goo’ night.

Erd, King of the Nunathoemlen

This is Erd, the King of the Nunathoemlen (new-nah-thow-em-len), and the father of Muila and Layalin and Kyla. (What? I don’t have any better pictures of Kyla than that? D8 ) He looks rather young in this picture… he’s supposed to look a bit older. But we’ll say this is early on in his kingship, back when he was an idealistic young sprout. Continue reading

Rana art by Rose

Rana, by RoseThornZero

This beautiful piece of art was drawn by Rose, who seems to be my new biggest fan, judging from how often she comments! : D We met on Wayrift, and then on DA, and this piece was part of an art commission trade there. Here is the piece I did as my half of the trade…

I really love how she captured Rana’s spunkiness. She says she enjoyed the character design, and I have to say I am amazed at the care she put into it. Also I like how she does faces, and Rana looks really pretty! In other words, it’s fabulous, yo.

Another thing you should check out is her original fantasy story! It’s very intriguing, and looks like it’s going to be really exciting. The picture I did features two characters from it (who are thus far only peripherally involved, but central plot-wise).

I do have a picture today, but I need to practice before I let myself finish it. Off I go!

P.S. This picture is much larger, but the default resize options for WordPress are a little inconvenient. Click for full-size!

Ben

Hmm. I’m not sure if this is done. I may add more lighting effects. I’m not sure. Comments plz!

The two sides of Ben I love: the emotional, caring, slightly angsty side, and the awesome Master Wizard side.

It’s been a while since I painted one of my own guys. I should get on that.

Ben preview

Doing another picture of Ben from Wayrift. Better, this time, although sadBen doesn’t have as much hair as rarBen. But I’m not redoing it because even that took forever. Or maybe it just feels like forever because the right side of my head is stuffed up.

Taking a break; will finish tomorrow.
