Grad Recital poster

Yeee! It’s done. Please let me know if I left out any details. Like logistics or maybe some shading looks funny or you don’t like the font (Trajan Pro) or something. Click for giant version, and then you can download it and print it if you like. I know it doesn’t fit on a regular page. I’m gonna just print it on larger sheets of paper and have strange white stripes down the sides.

EDIT: Dad says my hair is not this light. If I was standing against a background this dark, my head would blend into it. He’s absolutely right. But I’m not fixing it until tomorrow at least. : D

EDIT 2: Better? New version is on the right.

EDIT 3: Posters are printed and they look lovely. The resolution really came out well on 11×17 glossy paper. (Like I said, I’m not trimming the sides.)

So. Um. Believe it or not, I drew this almost entirely from my head. And a bit of mirror work for the mouth which was being a huge pain. My mom still doesn’t recognize who this is without being told, but whatever. Compare with last year’s strange alien creature! So much better, ain’t it?

Hmm. I don’t think the dress will look as good on me IRL as it does in this picture. Oh well.

Today I watched Restless Natives. It was hilarious. I loved it. Of course, because it’s the first time I saw it, I was also a total chicken about it. But it was soooo funny, especially the loony Japanese. X D Also I could have hugged everyone in the film, especially the Scottish policemen. Oh man I love those guys. SO MUCH.

Also my pieces are ALMOST completely memorized and ready to play (which is good coz I’m runnin’ out of time!)

Three weeks until my grad recital! So I’m working on the poster. Here is a preview. The background will probably be a light colour but I may change my mind. I do like pictures with deep rich hues in addition to pretty pastels.

Thoughts? What needs improving? I think I need to touch up the end of the nose because it’s not really coming out of the face like a nose should. Also my eyes aren’t that bright brown.

Trying to get Tam during class. I succeeded. Finally. I may incorporate this into the painting.

News later.

Tam’s Crazy Smile

Feb 16-17, ’11

Whoo! Tam, he is a crazy one. Here he is in all his blue-hair-and-purple-trenchcoat-ed glory, apparently climbing a cliff. The Cliffs of Insanity, maybe? XD

Something’s not right with his face, but you wouldn’t know because I haven’t really yet drawn him ‘correctly’. Also, that’s his knight’s seal swinging around his neck. Anyway, that Tam, he is most certainly a crazy one. In the friendliest, cuddliest, silliest, best sense possible, until the Black Unicorn gets him. But until then he’s one of my favourite characters and I should probably rewrite Book 1 during Reading Break or something. As well as baking cookies and things for my reception. Mmm.

Hey, Percy Trevellyan from the Jeremy-Brett-version of Sherlock Holmes looks AN AWFUL LOT like a friend of mine. Hmm. Hmmmmm. XD

Crazy weekend coming up! It’s been a long time since I was on a plane. So I have to practice piano up for that, and then… then I just need to figure out how to bake cookies and memorize a bazillion notes (*shakes fist at Brahms again*) and… other stuff. Rehearse and record and talk to people. Sound good? And something to do with a car, but that’s going to be something else. Oh, and I need to learn a bunch of organ postludes soon. Huzzah!
