Yeee! It’s done. Please let me know if I left out any details. Like logistics or maybe some shading looks funny or you don’t like the font (Trajan Pro) or something. Click for giant version, and then you can download it and print it if you like. I know it doesn’t fit on a regular page. I’m gonna just print it on larger sheets of paper and have strange white stripes down the sides. Continue reading

Poster WIP

Three weeks until my grad recital! So I’m working on the poster. Here is a preview. The background will probably be a light colour but I may change my mind. I do like pictures with deep rich hues in addition to pretty pastels.
Thoughts? What needs improving? I think I need to touch up the end of the nose because it’s not really coming out of the face like a nose should. Also my eyes aren’t that bright brown.
Tam in pen

Trying to get Tam during class. I succeeded. Finally. I may incorporate this into the painting.
News later.
Tam’s Crazy Smile

Whoo! Tam, he is a crazy one. Here he is in all his blue-hair-and-purple-trenchcoat-ed glory, apparently climbing a cliff. The Cliffs of Insanity, maybe? XD
Something’s not right with his face, but you wouldn’t know because I haven’t really yet drawn him ‘correctly’. Also, that’s his knight’s seal swinging around his neck. Anyway, that Tam, he is most certainly a crazy one. In the friendliest, cuddliest, silliest, best sense possible, until the Black Unicorn gets him. But until then he’s one of my favourite characters and I should probably rewrite Book 1 during Reading Break or something. As well as baking cookies and things for my reception. Mmm.
Hey, Percy Trevellyan from the Jeremy-Brett-version of Sherlock Holmes looks AN AWFUL LOT like a friend of mine. Hmm. Hmmmmm. XD
Tam redux?

So… tried a couple things with this. No actual repainting from the original, except for some detail in the irises that you can’t even see anyway. Just lighting and saturation. I dunno. I’m still not entirely satisfied, but it’s a little better.
Tam is a troublesome boy anyway.
Red-headed Angel

Moar figure drawing! Also trying to figure out angels with folded wings. Still. I have a vague idea.
The flowing red hair is just ’cause.
I have a pair of the awesomest music-themed hand-warmers known to intelligent life. : D Thank you AlexR’s mom!!
The concert was pretty good. The audition was pretty good. This webcomic is pretty good. “The Royal College of Organists… where often is heard… maniacal laughter!”
Off to ‘perfect my art’, as someone once said!
Demon Jen

I was busy today. Classes, homework, a little practice, and I went shopping because I am playing Lilith with AlexR on Monday, and apparently it’s tradition to dress up as a demon. Soooo… I needed a demon costume. So I bought my first ‘little black dress’ and it is totally cute, but it’s a lot less than I’m used to wearing. And I decided to draw a picture of it. End of long boring story!
Also the dress is cute, but both the buttons that keep the halter-part on broke the second time I put it on, so that’s kind of stupid. And I don’t actually have the fangs yet. I have more shopping to do tomorrow. I have the finny ears, though.
This is a small picture because I was just fooling around with large blurry brushes drawing female figures – trying to get the proportions right again – and I liked this one. But I didn’t feel like making a super-detailed picture, although I could have.
I reread The Secret Garden and it is sooo not a girly book; it’s a book about health. And I would like to try some of this healthy stuff. I don’t think I will seriously take up gardening, but it’s just kind of inspiring to see – here are people working hard out of doors, and they love it! They’re strong, and they like to sing, and they are happy and friendly! And of course the part where Colin stands up is the awesomest thing I read all week. Maybe all month. I haven’t done a lot of reading recently.
Off to the weekend, where I play in 3 recitals, listen to two more, and have an audition. Eeek!
Flairé’s Song for his Brothers
In the faces of the dead
I see the stars
Pale and shining, but not there
Higher, they are, higher above me
Where I cannot reach
But now they are free
In your eyes I see
the emptiness the stars live in
If there were no stars
I would have no hope and die too
But now you are stars-
