The Totally Not-Canon Adventures of Flairé: Abduction!

Leslie: Well, this has certainly been a weird day… I had a nap and I wake up… in Jen’s head? (shakes head) No, it has to be real. Flairé is so nice, and Flaria is such a good cook… (dark-clad figures creep in through open window and grab her) Ah!

Aaaaaah! Something happened! Oh noes!

Hold on to your instruments, things are actually going to go pretty fast from this point on. I guess I need to work on pacing more.

How do you like the attempt at moonlit floor? That’s not a moon in the upper right panel – it’s a stained glass window.

Sorry I’m late again. I was getting ready for Christine’s recital! She looked like a goddess of spring, with a light green silk gown and a silver clip in her golden hair. And she played fantastically, of course! Laura was pretty amazed at the end of the trio (Pantheon by Elizabeth Raum) because we filled the hall with so much sound.

I Totally Dare You To Dance

Oooh, it’s a painting! Not Photoshop, but Corel Painter. I was messing around with it, trying to see if I could get it to work. I think I did. In a rudimentary fashion, anyway.

One new thing I tried was highlighting from two different light sources. Well, that’s rather fancy talk for what I really did. I just highlighted from a neutral light source, then applied the blue layer and added orange highlight on one side – for the fire – and white on the other – for the moon. It’s a little bit too subtle but too much looked really bad.

The attitude turned out pretty good, though.

I painted this while listening to The Kilforna Set from the Chieftains Album Water in the Well. Great tunes!

30 seconds later:

Flaria: Oh! A person. How old is she? Does she like music? Where did you get the dress?

Flairé: Her name is Leslie, she’s 19, and she plays music everyday. We got the dress at Avumal’s place. Miss Leslie, this is my over-excitable sister Flaria.

Flaria: *eyeroll* Hello, Leslie! I’m very pleased to meet you. What do you like to eat?

Leslie: What is there?

AAAAAHHHHH IT’S A FEMALE FLAIRÉ just kidding.

Oh, yes. As soon as Flaria meets the new girl her thought is only hyper curiousity and whether she’s hungry.

This room needs a little more colour. The next time you see it, it will have some red drape-y things. Almost wasn’t going light the candles, but then I figured that it would only be natural. And I’m running out of yellow marker! : ( I will try and fix that for next week but I make no guarantees.

Oh and I don’t think the “switching back and forth” in the first frame was too successful. I will do better next time. I also forgot Flairé’s sword in the second panel. He just took it off really really fast? Those kalmaei are fast, you know.

Flairé: We’re going to go now, Yoeath. Unless you want to stay longer? (Leslie: Ummm… shrug?) We’re going to meet my sister and get some food. You know!

Yoeath: Get along with you then, Zelaré.

Leslie: Ummm… I thought your name was Flairé?

Flairé: Well, most people call me the son of my father. But she’s friends with my mother, so she calls me the son of my mother.

Leslie: Ohhhh…

Flairé: Bit awkward that my little brother calls himself Marteth Hciristial Zelaré, though…

Leslie: ?

…Confused yet? : P

Well, it’s not important anyway. As you can probably tell, Leslie already knows a good deal about kalmaeirin naming conventions due to hanging around me a lot. o_O7

Aur the SOLDIER

... ... ... What?

… … … What?

Um. Aur, of Dreigiau/Shimmer/Darkstar/Wayrift fame (though for the last two he’s called Chase), as a SOLDIER from Final Fantasy VII. I know Aywren doesn’t particularly care for FFVII, as she’s one of those who thinks the last great FF game was VI. But my brother loves FFVII: Crisis Core, and wanted to play a game based on it. So I was the player, he was the gamemaster, and I randomly picked to play as Aur because I think Aur is cool and it meant I didn’t have to think up a brand new person and I didn’t have to play as one of my pre-existing characters, which would have made him groan in exasperation. And while we were playing I drew a picture. Continue reading

THEME SONG TIIIIIME

Quick picture of Mathaning, as a break from all that Tatamkanai stuff, and by the way this was all drawn inbetween Christmas gift-art for people.

Math looks pretty good here. I’m happy with it, although his chin is a little bit tiny. His hair swirls around his neck just right, though.

And the last picture of Tam, for now. This one is not bad, but still not right. It brought out the colour change in his hair, at least. One of the points that is off is that his forehead is too far foreward.

Yoeath: Are… you staying long, little Leslie?

Leslie: I don’t know, Yoeath. I just got here, and I’m so confused…

Yoeath: That is all right. You little ones often are. Although it is not as if you come here often.

Leslie: Have many people come here?

Yoeath: Only a handful. Young Flairé takes care of them when they do.

Flairé: That’s right! There’s my fudhuindili, her fudhuindon – though I don’t think he remembers much – also a few really random people you wouldn’t know. Like Illi- Esgalwen.

Leslie: But – oh. Really?

Flairé: Yup! : )

Yoeath struggles with personal pronouns while Flairé gabbles on about people he knows while still being mysterious. It’s a problem that I, my brother, and Flairé, Gullac, Zela, and Marteth all have. Flowering bushes take forever, and I’m pleased with today’s chibis.

Cheers!
