Thursday’s babbling

My week has not been terribly interesting but I’ll let you know about the stuff that matters. Latin has been going well, and it’s still very exciting. I’m signed up to give a ten minute presentation on a Schumann Lied next week in History of German Lieder, but I can’t find a recording online. Drat. I’ll have to deal with that tomorrow. I think I might be getting the hang of this organ-teaching thing, too. Wednesday was utterly boring, though, except from 9:30-10:30 (Latin) and 7:45-9:30 (salsa). Salsa was really fun, as usual. There were four circles going by the time I got there, and after a bit they turned into two big circles, one inside the other. I was in the middle one. I changed into my swishy skirt and dress sandals before I got there, and the swishy skirt really adds to the fun, and the sandals slide so easily on the floor in there. I can almost do Coca-Cola properly now because of it! I talked a lot with Matthew, mostly about music, and just at the end I got to dance with Sam, which makes me happy coz Sam is one of the best leads there. And as usual I got to take the same bus home as Ana, who is taking second year Latin so we talk about Latin. : )

Today I worked on lots and lots and lots of piano because I was soooo bored again, and I was rather frustrated because my fingers don’t move fast enough for the Liszt. I also listened to the Dutilleux recording again and it was a bit discouraging as well because it’s so hard and it’s really flashy in spots. I just have to remember I CAN DO THIS. Totally. : P But the Franck might be still improving. And I worked on the F minor Sinfonia, which is good because it’s one of the trickier ones, besides the Bb major one… and the A major one… and the E minor one. I didn’t get around to Beethoven in the end but I can do that tomorrow before I research Schumann.

And I practiced the super organ piece, and the last few pages are sounding okay (not up to speed but approaching fluency) and the first two pages are good so I just have to get the middle half of it fluent and then up to speed. Didn’t help that my fingers were practically frozen (why is it so cold down there?). And I wrote a few notes in a composition. I feel like working on composing. This is a good thing. Must reach goals!

Also today I put up two more character profiles: Marteth and Gullac, the two most interesting (?) of Flaer and Zela’s children. I realized that they wouldn’t name their sons ‘Pride’ or ‘Irony’ so I had to make up birthnames for them both. It was pretty fun. I also did a little work on all the other, currently unpublished character profiles but not a lot. I think Bayn and Mathaning will be up next. Perhaps tomorrow? It takes me half an hour to write each profile… Well, it took me an hour to do Marteth. He’s so demanding. But I can probably get his other younger brothers up tomorrow.

Dad’s found various simulator ‘games’ online… Microsoft Train Simulator, Bus Simulator, Farm Simulator, Truck Simulator, Crane Simulator… it’s rather ridiculous what people go to simulate.
