This picture would never happen in ‘real life’. Esgalwen lived in Taur-nu-Fuin, Flairé in the Adhemlenei, in Lilemlen. So there’s no way they would be running together, either for fun or on a mission – I can’t tell. And they both seem awfully young; Flairé looks like he’s barely forty years old, Esgalwen perhaps fifteen. Anyway, they both came out decently, and it’s an interesting concept. And perhaps it does now have some sort of basis in ‘reality’, because Esgalwen is travelling under the name ‘Illinia’ in my winter D&D session, which is a kalmaeirin name. So perhaps she did meet Flairé and he gave it to her. Mithlas, on the other hand, still goes by his Sindarin name. So obviously either he didn’t meet Flairé or else Esgalwen/Illinia doesn’t know his kalmaeirin name. Whatever. (Flairé tells me he never met Mithlas, but Esgalwen/Illinia didn’t know that when she met Flairé, and Flairé didn’t know he was supposed to be looking for a Mithlas before he met Esgalwen/Illinia.)
Hey, guess what. I said yesterday that I wasn’t going to have time to run… yesterday was my day off running. Does that mean I’m dedicated or dumb, forgetting when I’m supposed to take breaks? Anyhow, I took one, and that’s the important part.
I burned my tongue at the composing meet last night… darn you, delicious London Fog tea! And I got some planning done on my variations, and I’m rewriting the original hymn as the theme. Copying, really. I’m pretty excited for the rest of it but it’s going to be a lot of hard work. I have 6 or 7 variation ideas lined up, and I have some textures in my head. Sadly I was the only one who showed up besides the host, .t. But he made it so that this website appears when you type in www.adhemlenei.com instead of having to put /illinia after it. Yay. I couldn’t figure that out.
I sees people later today! I’m so excited! And I go to an organ concert which is additional excitement!

Finally, a Nayru semi-serious portrait to match (and surpass) Ralph’s. I left out the hands because I knew I would ruin them. The anime hair doesn’t go so well with hairstrokes, either. But the tunic came out vaguely okay.

Here are some sketches of Ralph, who has a groovy 16 bar theme in the game in which he appears, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. The theme made me want to draw him, so I did. Not very well, but the reference art I was using was really really small. Not that that’s an excuse. Hooray for Ralph/Nayru.
