I went running! It was a little bit cool out, and it was very lightly raining… the rain in my hair afterwards was like tiny bits of crystal. It was pretty (the rain, not my hair. My hair was rather awful.) And I have shiny new shoes! Shiny shiny shiny. Well, they’re not shiny anymore. I took them on the trail in the rain, so now they have tiny bits of bark mulch stuck to them.
I do love the smells around when it’s raining in the summer… there’s the smell of warm wet trees, warm wet grass, warm wet concrete, warm wet bark…
Flairé: Warm wet muifrurd…
You shut up.
Flairé: Aw.
The other thing I have to blog about today (lots to blog about today, for some reason…) is swords. I’ve been looking at ‘em. On the interweb. I’m looking for a Zela-type sword. Oddly enough, I’ve found this shiny at three different sites (search ‘classic medieval decorator sword’ if it doesn’t appear on the last one), all $9 cheaper than the last one.
Another sword with the same vague shape is this one, which looks pretty nice – clean lines, a little bit more intricate than perhaps a purely historical sword.
This one is quite plain, and not the right shape of cross piece, but it has a heavy pommel (even if not an amythest orb, but whatever – where on earth would I find that anyway?) and black on the handle of the hilt, and it has a good looking blade. And it’s spring steel!
Here’s a super cheap one with similar characteristics, although I think I actually like the straight cross piece of the previous one rather than the dramatically curved cross piece.
Okay, take a look at this. Here’s Glamdring-of-the-movie (another contender) with a nice shape of hilt and a good long blade – but it’s the cheap one. Here’s the real collector’s one. Doesn’t it look so much better? Of course, there’s a $165 price difference between them. Heh. That would be why.
I’m not sure which one I want yet. I’m still thinking, and looking. It’s a terrible decision to have to make.
And that’s all I’ve looked at so far. Later, perhaps tomorrow, I’ll give you a hint as to why I’ve started thinking about it now. I mean, besides the fact that now I know two people who personally own swords.
