Another nice guy I met at Provincials was named Serge, and he was from Vancouver, I think, and he had trouble with his piece. His hand started to hurt, and then the bell went ding by accident, so he had to stop anyway, but then they realized it was a mistake and he had to go back and keep going. Oh, dear. Anyway, we had lunch with him one day.
Monday? A Monday happened? Oh, well, I think it went well. My motto for catching up is going to be: “If I can’t remember it, whether it was happy or unhappy, it doesn’t really matter anyway.” I think that’s a bit like Perelandra, you know, where they’re discussing enjoying the same things over and over until they’re no longer enjoyable. So if I don’t remember, but I figure I must have had a good time, that’s good enough. Although sometimes it’s annoying when I can’t remember jokes to tell other people.
Oh, this must be the Monday Nick handed out some ‘sight reading excercises’ to Via Choralis. Here’s the first one:
Sopranos: “We’re the sopranos; we always sing the melody. We may not be Valkyries, but we like to sing on top!”
Altos: “We are the altos, we ARE (original lyrics: we’re not) the best readers, but it’s a snap when we only have three notes.” (E, F, and G)
Tenors: “We are the tenors, we love to sing lyrically. We sing so sweetly, except when it’s too high!” (hitting high C on that note, too)
Basses: “We are the basses, we love to sing low notes, but sometimes they scold us when we get behind the – beat.”
The other one is called “Faerie’s Aire and Death Waltz”, and it’s been Arranged by Accident. ‘Nuff said.
Insert peanuts and release the penguins.
N.B.: Serge is now dead. I don’t know why, but we are all very sad.
