Cool.

So, this is Emma the cellist, with sunglasses and her new cool coat, and then I tried drawing Victor, one of the violin teachers – that’s Victor Costanzi, and I think he’s famous, or at least he and his wife – who plays harp and also taught at CYMC – they moved – make lots of recordings. The picture turned out awful, so that’s not what he looks like. The other guy is Anthony, the funniest double bass player ever. He makes me laugh without trying, just by standing there, or maybe by attaching clothes pins to his face. o_O7

Also there’s a tiny portrait of a bug that landed on my paper while I was drawing.

Anthony is also the student of Dave Brown, who – before the Costanzis moved – lived five minutes walk away from them. Neat.

Oh, and Victor is the funniest violinist ever. He can make a whole class crack up in an instant.

Of course, there was also the infamous ‘birds’ incident, in which we the second violins were learning the difficult passage of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretal, which is letter I, I think, and we were somehow talking about bird migration along the river Mississippi, I think, and then we started playing, but a half second before our bows began to move, Jeremy quickly said “Birds!” and I had to stop playing (I was his stand partner that year, and I think the year after or before too) because I was laughing too hard.

We also learned that Jeremy had never watched The Princess Bride – poor, deprived fool – and Ali and her stand partner, right behind us, and I were all laughing over the bit where Valerie, Miracle Max’s wife, is chasing him around the hut chanting “Humperdinck, Humperdinck, Humperdinck” and he was sadly clueless. (If you haven’t watched it yet, Jeremy, shame on you!) It’s a great movie, and the music is terrific too. And, it’s so funny! And, it’s so quotable! I’ve seen many places where people quote it, often in slightly incongruous situations. Occasionally people quote Monty Python instead, and I haven’t watched that. I guess people are now crying shame on me. But I saw the Camelot dance sequence, and I know all the most famous quotes: “What is your favourite colour?” and “I shall taunt you a second time!” just from people saying them, especially at Games Workshop.

Whoa. What about today’s news? I guess there isn’t any yet, except my brother has officially bowed to my superiority as Marth-Master, since he KO’d a Pichu on Super Smash Bros. Melee in 60 seconds, and estimated that I could have done the same in 20 seconds. That made me happy. We also saw a new Dragon Booster (yaaaay it’s back on Saturday mornings) in which Mordred (none of this Moordrydd nonsense, please) shows Cain that he’s Shadow Booster, and then yells at his mentor and goes to Cain’s birthday party. Whee. Party. And whenever Mordred is nice in any way, I’m happy, because I know he’s going to be on the good guy’s side at the (cancelled) climax and I want him to get there as fast as possible. So, this means my favourite episodes are the Wraith Booster, of course, and Pride of the Hero, and then today’s, of which we missed the first ten minutes so I don’t know what it is.
